Is there any hope at heavyweight this year? I know that there have been a lot of criticisms on here, but do we have someone young that might take control of the spot?

Unless Quean comes around it will pretty much be an empty weight for us. I think the coaches made a huge mistake by not going for a Juco at heavyweight.

I don't expect Jackson to use this lineup, but our best dual lineup (by far) for the top weights would be:
174: Weatherman
184: Weatherspoon
197: Beard
HWT: Gadson

Or heck. How about CW? He might not know a lot about wrestling but he doesn't make me cringe. Tom K is a great guy but he is not meant for TV.

So was there something holding up Hall from wrestling this year? I remember it being asked I thought, but no answer. Also the class he was in versus McCauley, I think was the one question.

5-1 after two periods. Hall is obviously very talented but having trouble adjusting back to folkstyle.

11-8 win for Hall. He dominated the match but I think has some learning to do to get used to Folkstyle.

It does seem problematic. What if the down wrestler got a reversal? It takes that away. Loved the energy from Hall. Hope he has a great year.

Takedown on the edge for Penessi off a long stalemate from a Bauer shot. I think that was a bad call by the ref. Should have just stood them up. 2-0 lead for the WVU wrestler.

It does seem problematic.

I am fine with the rule - I especially hated how Iowa wrestlers would fake a cut and then try to cradle guys. This gets rid of that. I like mat wrestling but I know that the rules are changing to favor standup.

I'm just not used to it yet so get confused whenever I see a guy call for it.

3-0 lead for Pennesi going into the third. Bauer has never been in danger but hasn't been able to finish a takedown.

While I don't like a loss like this I like what I'm seeing from Bauer. Like I said in the first post a closer match would make me think Bauer has a shot at stealing the third place spot (and it's NCAA qualifier distinction) at Big XIIs.

Bauer loses 2-4 but was the aggressor in the match and was very close on a lot of shots and almost got back points at the end. I liked what I saw there out of Bauer. In March he'll win that.
