Just curious if anybody here uses the Weather Underground severe weather alerts system to get emails for severe weather. For about a month now, when a severe weather alert is issued, I don't get the initial alert, but only get follow-up alerts (i.e. Tornado warning remains in effect, Tornado warning is cancelled). In looking at some of the forums on the WU website, it seems that quite a few folks are affected by this. I sent WU an email about it, but never got a response.

I use an android app called Simple Weather Alert and I really like it. It doesn't email but it does notify you right on your phone and allow you to read the actual NWS alert. You can assign different priorities to alert levels which is nice. I get notified of all alerts but for tornado warnings my phone vibrates and rings. It's also very timely with the alerts.
