I thought we had some girl from DMACC coming in too maybe? At least that is what my roommate who referees some JUCO games told me once and apparently the girl we recruited/were recruiting or whatever was pretty good. I'll have to get some more info on this...

Jocelyn Anderson (mentioned in the first article I linked) is the DMACC player. Here's another article on her:

http://www.midiowanews.com/site/tab6.cfm?newsid=17438964&BRD=2700&PAG=461&dept_id=554517&rfi=6

According to the NJCAA site, she had 15.3 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 5.2 bpg, and shot 63.4% from the field.

That's who it is. She's #44 in this pic: http://www.library.dmacc.cc.ia.us/Athletics/womensbasketball/2006team.asp

She's 6-3 and my roommate says she just dominated the 2 games he saw of her this season. Looks like a good signing.

Amanda Zimmerman from Huxley is a recruit, but I don't know if it is for 2007. She and Bolte were both first team all staters.

Iowa and UNI have been leaning heavily on instate recruits lately. Fennelly has taken 1-2 from Iowa each year, and filled in with Mo. and Minn. recruits in recent years. But Bill has taken the cream off the top.

Rivals or Scout needs to get off their arses and start ranking high school girls. Not saying they need a top 150, but atleast give us some position rankings, regional rankings, something.

Actually Scout has a list (commonly called hoopgurlz) Here are some other sites I go to - they are often regional and not comprehensive. Girls have to go to specific tournaments or camps to get noticed nationally. ISU recruits aren't usually on these lists. Bill usually doesn't recruit the nationally ranked girls, choosing instead to develop local talent - I'd like to discuss that approach, but, not now.

BlueStar http://www.bluestarbb.com/

All-Star Girls Report http://www.michaeltwhite.com/
(some free info - requires a subscription for lots of promised content - not me)

Hoopgurlz.com seems to be a Scout affiliate - http://girlshoops.scout.com/

HuskyNan's - UConn fan who has put together a whole bunch of links - takes some work, but, you can see who other programs are looking at.

One more....newcomer next year. Brittany Lange is a transfer from Creighton who sat out this year. She is a 5 10 guard from Sac City. Brittany holds the Iowa High School record for 3 point shots made per game at 3.56 and is second in career 3 point shooting in Iowa High Schools with 260.

It is hard not to chime in on WBB threads now that Anderson is going to ISU...she is my cousin.

I got to watch a couple of games this year. Unfortunately, the last game was the regional final against #1 Kirkwood, and DMACC got killed. But, Anderson IS really good. She is at least 6'3", if not 6'4". (I'm 6'2" w/ out shoes, and she is atleast 2" taller). Anyway, she can run the floor pretty well, and dominated inside this year. It will be interesting to see what the jump to D-1 does. Everyone else is fast, tall, and good too. We'll see how it goes. Right now I see her as a role bench player, maybe 15 mins/game, but you never know.

Homan has another JUCO year left. She didn't start, but will likely start next year for DMACC. I hate to compare her to her brother, but strangely, she will need to learn to not foul out and take control of her emotions. She is 6'2" at most. more of a 3 or 4 postion, not a 5.

It dosen't matter who they have comming in. The bottom line is Bill cannot recruit. He is too hung-up on getting players from Iowa and the mid-west. There are NO top recruits in the midwest. I bet you would be hard pressed to fine one kid from Iowa playing in a Sweet 16 team this year.

A coach should never have to make the excuse the "the other team had better players" when the coach has been there 12 years to recruit. Bill has gotten everyone to lower their expectations of this program. they are something like 97-60 the last five years. In women's basketball ball that is not a good record. I think it is time for Pollard to start looking for a new coach!!!

Lower expectation?? Give me a break ... They finished 26-9 this season in a year that they weren't supposed to do anything. The school record for wins is 27 (twice)!!!

I've followed the women's program for a long time. I appreciate what Bill did in his first six years, but he has done nothing of note latley. I guess what really rubbed me the wrong way was his actions at the game last night. Before the game he went out to shake Georgia's coach's hand, and he knealed down before him. As if to say he wasn't worthy. If Bill thought he was being funny he wasn't. He was showning everyone he was beat before the game even started.
