What a weird game. Iowa State wasn't great but had 6 players with at least 9 points, which was a welcome change. Great to see AJ have a breakout scoring game. I thought Emily was really good, she's a great leader and makes everyone else better when she's in the game. I don't think anything is going to come easy for this team, but hopefully they will be able to win a bunch more games. I'm not going to worry about the postseason, just one game at a time.

My god this color announcer is awful.

Best part of the night:

Male announcer says “it sounds like Hilton southwest here tonight!”

lady announcer: “what?”

Guy: “lots of Iowa state fans here tonight”

Lady: “oh”

Riveting.
I think my dog could provide more meaningful analysis than the ESPN+ analyst. Our play that last quarter was embarrassing.
Feel bad for the PxP guy. He’s having to fill a lot of dead air with commentary on top of his main duties.
The analyst is a former ASU player. Probably didn't know Iowa State existed prior to this year.

Thank you! People are so clueless in what she is dealing with! Acting like it’s just something to get over. Yes, would we love to see her out there all the time, yes! With that, Wilson gaining valuable minutes in crunch time! Team has way more issues the Ryan not being in late. Worse shooting FT team that I can remember. Key sophomore that has declined, another key sophomore that can’t make free throws and will be on the line all night, if calls are made. Gutted out a win, shouldn’t have come to the gutting part, but..better then an L!

I think we are making sure we follow the direction of whoever it is that is in charge of Emily's situation and showing we care more about the person than the "player" than the "game" than the "win". I respect that and I hope that all pays off in the end and gets everyone what they need.

If this is truly a situation where we hit that cap and we treat it hard and fast, then it is possible we need to evaluate the way we manage those minutes, becuase in crunch time in this game, we needed her. ALTHOUGH, maybe we don't need her if she is not leading our team to a 20 point lead earlier in the game. It is hard to tell.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt to Bill and his staff to know what they need to be doing with their team. I don't know Emily or any details about her situation and I don't want ISU basketball to ruin her present or future life becuase we "need a few more wins out of you."

The one thing that we have is a LOT of younger women that are getting thrown into the fire and sometimes getting crushed (i.e. earlier challenges) sometimes losing to teams they shouldn't and sometimes winning games. I think, if they can stick together, they will learn from and possibly prosper from these tougher times.

I complain about the basics now (i.e. passing, defensive positioning, etc.) but they have a LOT of up-side too.

Some great points here. When Ryan was in we did have what I thought were comfortable leads. Your next to last paragraph spells out a reality that some don’t want to accept. This is still a young team. All that being said, the entire inbounds deal was weird and another symptom of the late near collapse we witnessed last night. Just weird.

ISU misses Diew, Hannah, and Bristow from last year on defense and all could score to take pressure off of our big three. New Portal flops and Hare injury are why they are what they are.
Hannah was a really solid player. Great shooter, good ball handler, and ok on defense. She was very consistent from game to game. We miss her a lot this year. Diew really struggled last year and Bristow didn't play much. The thing they would provide to this team is length and athleticism. I don't know how much they would play, but they definitely provide different attributes from our current team.

Yep…Diew was the same thing we have now in someone like Hansford. Long and an offensive liability. Bristow showed so much promise, but was more like a freshman than any of the other fab five last year. That limited her minutes and so far this year it doesn’t appear to be much better.

Not like anybody's awaiting my game summary, but I'll chip in anyway. We meet friends for half-price margaritas at our favorite Mexican restaurant on Wednesday(s), so I missed the entire first quarter - I understand that was the enjoyable part of the game!

I flipped on the game with 7 minutes left in the second quarter and sum the remainder simply as "not aesthetically pleasing". AJ looked confident on the couple of outside shots she took and her defense was stellar. Reagan Wilson's shooting (10 points) was a welcome surprise. Sydney grabbed three boards in three minutes. There were definitely highlights!

As MRED illustrated clearly in the postscript of the Utah game, this ISU team doesn't have much margin for error in their quest to make the NCAA tournament. We failed to blow out a Quad 3 team, but I never felt we were at risk of losing and any conference road win is a good win. Build on it, play them one game at a time and continue to incorporate three point shots - hopefully they'll peak at the right time and make some noise. Go State!

Kelsey Joens had 7 rebounds. 2 of those were offensive which lead to points.

Hoping for her minutes to increase as well as Wilson’s.

At one point, we had 4 sophomores and 1 freshman on the floor.

Only a slight exaggeration. One of the threes we made was slightly contested a bit with a late runout. Maybe the worst defensive 10 minutes versus Iowa State that I have ever seen, teamed with us shooting a crazy % on those open shots.
