Wasting FB Tickets

I'm not upset at the size of the crowd on Saturday (55K is pretty good considering) but I just can not understand why there were so many empty seats in areas that we know are sold out? I mean, there were hundreds of empty seats in the new south end zone section among other areas and I can not figure out why people wouldn't just give them away if there weren't going?

Do people not have friends or family members? If I can't make a game my first thought is to try and sell them. I pretty much always find someone to buy even if I take a bath on them....but if not the next thing I do is try and give them away. I just can't stomach wasting tickets.

I almost wish the AD would set something up to make it easier to give tickets away. Just imagine how many young kids or family's would have loved to go to the game on Saturday but just didn't get or couldn't afford tickets....only to see all those empty seats.

I agree. For 6 sometimes 7 Saturdays a year I don't think it should be to hard for those who bought tickets to attend or give them away to soemone else.

I'm thinking a lot of those are corporate tickets that they give to customers who just decide not to go (or never wanted to go in the first place).

this is the primary culprit, or places that buy a surplus of tickets just to sell them (and then couldn't sell them all).

Another cause might be the mini-pack.

The SEZ Club seats will remain 1/2 empty for the remainder, as people hang out drinking inside.

Wait to a cold day in November. The clubs seats will be emptied. They should have a vendor come down to the section selling beer. Maybe people would actually watch the game outside in the elements

End zone isn't even close to sold out. The seats were filled because the AD did the mini packs for the first two games. We only sold about 2,200 club seats so do the math on how many were given away for the first games.

I don't have a problem with people not showing up if they're done with Rhoads. The only way to influence change is to voice displeasure and that's one way for lowly season ticket holders to make their voices heard. You don't have to donate a ton of money to have a voice.

In order to sell tickets and have people show up, you require having interested buyers that want go to... That day, only 55k people had a desire to go.

And the SEZ club will stay empty from now on with people staying inside to drink and not be cold

On the bright side, those bright red empty seats look a lot better than the empty, faded yellow and red bleachers.

I commented to both my wife and my brother about the South End Zone. I think there were a lot more people there than it really looked like. I could see a bunch of people up inside the lounge area. I told them, that's the bad thing about that type of a facility. No one is sitting in their seats, they are all up in the bar. Imagine what the South End Zone is going to look like in November when it's 30 degrees out. It's going to be completely empty with everyone inside.

I mean it's fine, it's a great facility, but it almost invites you not to sit in your seats, especially with the alcoholic fans we have.

55k people to watch us play maybe the worst team most people have ever seen in person seems like a pretty solid number.

A lot of the empty seats in the SEZ were people who had moved further North in the empty seats in H,I, and J. Those are the people to blame.

Ha, was actually thinking that for real when watching on TV. "Glad those seats are red, look okay for empty."

Big donors and corporations buy them up and often give them away. My cousin works for a large corporation in West DSM and said they had dozens available to anyone who wanted them, for free. As of Friday afternoon there weren't many takers.

I know we were playing Kansas but you could not have asked for a better fall day for a football game. Those that were there would agree with me that the weather was perfect. 55,000 isn't bad but it would have been nice to not see the corners so empty.

I had tickets in the south east corner, the 2% of the stadium that didn't get any sunlight Saturday. Moved to upper deck for sun to warm the old lady up.

Attendance and actual butts in seats is pretty good considering our conference record the last few years.

I could have gotten a free ticket (I think my buddies went unused this weekend) but I didn't want to make a 24 hour time commitment to drive down the night before and all for a game I could watch on TV between painting door trim and other last minute fall home maintenance.
