I learned there were idiot cyclone fans in 1995 when the internet started to exist. Glad everyone is catching on.

I have no issues with criticism these days, that's how social media/msg boards exist.

players are celebs, coaches are millionaires, and cyclone fans pay serious $$$$$ to the university to support and attend games. the dollars involved today changes things too.

try telling a pro sports fan that people have to be directors club (12k+ what is it?) to sit lower level in ames, Ia for college bball and they look at you like you have two heads.

This isn't just an ISU issue.

Didn't Prohm get off of Twitter? His way to manage Twitter was to avoid it?

Prohm has forgotten more about basketball than I'll ever know, but I can crawl on to Twitter and type "Prohm isn't a leader. He's a beta male who hasn't grown into a P5 coach and never will"

Why would any coach or player choose to engage or take criticism on that platform...or even CF?

CF is a pretty chill place overall. Twitter is a compete dumpster fire.

(P.S. fans who negatively engage with our players on social media are **** suckers and cowards)

Prohm was pretty active on Twitter until...January 1. Quiet since. No surprise. But generally speaking he's there because in his business it's a virtual requirement. Social media is a pretty key part of Campbell's recruiting strategy too and nobody complains about that.

Are there people using social media to criticize the program? Yes. Are there people directing that specifically at players and coaches? Not on Twitter in any significant numbers.

That means if players and coaches are complaining about criticism on Twitter it's coming from people they choose to follow, or because they have searched for and located the criticism. Much like they may be blissfully ignorant of anything that gets said on CF until they come here and look for it.

And I hate to burst your bubble, but Twitter isn't that much worse than CF. I'm not sure it's worse at all. They're alike in that the quality of your experience depends on your willingness and ability to weed out the idiots.

So no accountability for being the dips hit?
If they're attacking players/staff directly then yes, hold them accountable however you do that. If the players are searching their names to see what people say and get mad that people are saying bad things after back to back awful losses then that's on them for thinking otherwise. They know what they're going to see isn't good but they're doing it anyways when they don't have to. Personal attacks aren't ok obviously, but if they're mad that other people are mad then tough ****. Be better than 7-6 then.

So you want to hang your hat on one post that admitted it was made in jest. If there is actually crap then it can be called out. I’ve seen much more BS on here defending the staff than attacking them. I can’t even see half the posts from people defending the staff because they are bad faith posters on my ignore list.
His wording was basically “I’m being sarcastic, unless enough people agree with me and then let’s do it!”

It was quite possibly the shittiest thing I’ve ever seen on this site. Just terrible behavior for a fan, and also cowardly enough to try and hide behind it “being a joke” unless there were enough people to agree with them.

And there were people agreeing with him. The vast majority was blasting him (as they should), but the others were there.

Yeah, this one wasn't ok. In the pros, sure. I'd never do that, but I get being fed up that some millionaire could choose to fix things but isn't because whatever reason. For college it's completely inappropriate and even suggesting it is ******

Prohm makes millions, and is one of the highest paid state employees, it’s part of the job to take heat.

The players shouldn’t be called out individually.

Just my opinion.

What does calling out Prohm on social media accomplish?

I agree players shouldn't be attacked, but I also don't see any value in a player being on or following twitter in the first place. Or this message board for that matter. We like to talk sports and sometimes like to vent frustration, but what do we really know? The players should look to their coaches and teammates for affirmation or evaluation rather than a bunch of anonymous dumb asses on social media.

The one thing I can say and I think it’s been the case throughout Prohm’s tenure is that he appears to have never lost the team. Even with everything that has happened with McKay, Lard, Wiggington, the locker room fight last season, etc., it never seemed like he lost the respect of his players. I’m only making this claim for what I see in public, so I could be wrong.
