I follow Cyclone VB on twitter and they said the conditions in Waco were bad and the building roof was leaking. Could have been a combination of things.

But the scores/losses (which were extremely tight) don't show that some VB players still had amazing games. They said Ashley Mass had a record 33 digs.

I don't know...I've not seen this team in person, but there were a couple of surprisingly close (IMO) matches earlier in the season. Perhaps for where the team is right now, their ranking is more realistically 20ish...

9 of their last 10 matches on the road, including losses to three ranked teams (Minnesota, Texas and Baylor).

the ladies seem to struggle on the road (perhaps an ISU curse?)... they lost last year (the elite 8 squad) at CU to a woeful buffalo team. Not sure what it is about road games. Hopefully they can be giant killer at home vs. Texas or kNU this year....

oh and I love how an ad pops up at the bottom of this page pimping baylor gear...

The scores were 25-23, 25-19, 33-31.

That means 2 of the sets were literally determined by 4 rallies. And on their home court.

I'm surprised we got swept. I'm a little surprised we lost - but not completely.

But this isn't the end of the world. 3 losses all against ranked teams. Dropped only 3 sets in the remainder of them.

True. And in the final set, we were up 31-30.

I watched the match verses Iowa ... even thought we beat them we looked pretty shakey sometimes.

Their ranking may be higher - but I'm not sure if they're playing better than last season.

Agree. Really good at some points and then completely average at others. Is KSU good? We'll be there Saturday and I want to watch 2 good teams.

Good point - and one of the things Coach Johnson-Lynch mentioned in the off-season was that, in reality, ISU was "on the bubble" regarding getting in the NCAA's last year prior to the great tournament run.
The team's immediate goal is to have a better conference season than last year.

We also beat a highly ranked Minnesota team on their home court to get to the Sweet Sixteen last year.

The more important point here I think is that Christy gets her players to peak at the end of the year. The past few years we have had some early season losses that were surprising then they inevitably rally to pick it up come tournament time.

A lot like the Twister Sisters actually.
