Lawson will have to get a lot better at shooting the 3 ball.

And i'll just assume he's not quite the caliber of a top 15 NBA draft pick

Self has been saying that Lawson can shoot the 3 and well help stretch the floor next year.
He did shoot 35% from 3 his freshman year Jackson never shot better than 30% until his Junior year when he shot 37%.
He is a better rebounder and defender than Jackson and can pass and handle the ball as well. So he seems to be as versatile as Jackson. Doesn't really matter if he is a top 15 draft pick. If I had to bet money, I would say there is a high probability he is Big 12 player of the year and an All American next year.

No one for Kansas will be Big 12 PoY because no one for Kansas is going to average enough mpg to put up big numbers. I'd be shocked if anyone averages 30 mpg for KU this year. I think it will be a season like 2008 where we had 6 guys average 23-30 mpg and three guys get AP Honorable Mention but no better.

KU has a very good roster for next year, no question.

But listen to yourself. You're making it seem like this is a 0 loss team that we should just declare NCAA champs now. I mean, might as well right? A team with it's 6-10 players being "top 25 good" surely wouldn't bow out early in the NCAA's would they?

What I see is potential with big time recruits and a shaky back court.

There's probably a reason a certain American Conference school lots its two "best players" and had a better season the following year, right?
Don't be a drama queen. I was simply responding to your
"KU has a nice roster but it's a guards game come tourney time, and there ain't nobody near AD level on that squad.

They could make another Final 4 run though."

statement that basically says that because they don't have an elite preseason AA guard that they don't have a shot at the title. That's silly to discount a team on that right off the bat. And frankly, Anthony Davis was NPoY because of his defense and shot blocking. He averaged 14 and 10, numbers I think someone on this year's squad could reach just fine.

Is Self going to do a platoon style rotation like Cal did that one year because of how incredibly deep and talented their roster is?

Knowing KSU and Big 12 refs, Kansas probably won that game anyways.

Yeah, not seeing that.

I'm just saying, when you say "our 6 thru 10 players would be a top 25 squad themselves" you sound ridiculous.

Deep. For sure. What's coming back has not been proven all that talented though. Their known talent is playing in the summer league now. Doke couldn't even get up and down the court the second half last year. We'll see. Vick is probably somewhere between a talented headcase and team cancer. The fact Self let him come back says more about Bill than LaGerald though.

Just a little hyperbole there.

Self didn't really have the luxury of sitting Doke last year. With the improved depth next year, Doke won't have to play through fatigue and he won't have to worry as much about foul trouble.

Your comment about Vick being a team cancer is laughable. With Vick playing a large number of minutes the last two seasons, KU has been very successful. That wouldn't have happened if he were truly a team cancer. For a perfect example of a cancer, see Marcus Foster in 2015, who was allowed to completely derail KSU's season.

Lawson's problem his freshman year was that he was soft with a capital S. I suspect that Self will have gotten that out of him, but if he doesn't, some of the bigs in the big 12 will take his lunch money.
