Headed to Vegas tomorrow for a work conference thru the weekend. Been twice before but it's been about 5 years. What's the new stuff that I need to see and or do?

I'll be there the week after next for work conferences. Staying in The Mirage. I plan on spending many drinks people watching as hundreds of depressing people gamble away their lives.

I go a couple of times per year and seems like the new things over the past 5 years are:
-High Roller (world's largest observation wheel between Flamingo and Linq)
-T-Mobile Arena between Monte Carlo and NYNY. The area in front of NYNY and Monte Carlo have also been completely redone.
-Bazaar shops in front of Ballys (outdoor mall feel but shops are tiny)
-Aria/City Center (was probably under construction last time you were there or just being finished)
-Lots of rehab work at several of the properties too.

Where are you staying?

Treasure Island. Never stayed there before. Stayed at Harrahs and Imperial Palace the last 2 times.

Someone said Imperial Palace isn't even there anymore?

Please someone tell me that Ellis Island still exists and all will be ok.

IT DOES! I WAS JUST THERE! Still $1 beers and an $8 steak dinner!

It's the Linq now. It's been remodeled and is a solid mid-level property - no longer a **** hole! Go check out the area between Linq and Flamingo, it's really cool.

TI will be a step up compared to Harrah's. Good location too.

And yes, Ellis Island is still going strong!

I was on a work project there for about 10 weeks earlier this year, stayed on the strip the whole time.

Top Buffets
1.) Bacchanal Buffet in Cesar's Palace
2.) The Buffet at the Wynn (easily the most beautiful)
3.) The Buffet at Bellagio
4.) Wicked Spoon in the Cosmopolitan
Value pick: Studio B Buffet at the M Resort. Awesome food, unlimited beer and wine for $30. It's just wayyyy the **** away and barely even Vegas.

Attractions to check out (no order)
High Roller
The Park - https://www.theparkvegas.com/en.html
Bellagio Conservatory
Neon Museum (REALLY COOL!)
Hoover Dam was pretty interesting. Try to take a tour!
Mount Charleston and Red Rocky Canyon were beautiful as well.
Go to Fremont Street and see "Old Vegas".
Container Park - http://downtowncontainerpark.com/
Tournament of Kings is a riot

Restaurants
Gordon Ramsey's BURGR was pretty good
You already know about Ellis Island
There is a secret pizza place inside Cosmopolitan. Actually has the best pizza in Vegas
Hash House a Go Go - Awesome Breakfast/Brunch food
Holsteins Shakes and Buns

Shows
Absinthe is pretty out there but great.
O, KA, La Reve, and LOVE are awesome Cirque Du Soleil shows
Check and see if Beacher's Madhouse is in Town. You get champagne delivered to you by midgets on a zipline.
David Copperfield was my favorite magic show
Blue Man Group is pretty good

Other random tid bits
One of my favorite things to do is go to Mon Ami Gabi which is a french restaurant at the Paris right across from the Bellagio Fountains. BEST place to people watch and you get to see all the fountain shows.

ASK FOR WATERMELON JUICE AT THE CASINOS. All the major ones have it and it is a magical drink and they compete with each other for the best watermelon juice. I usually put vodka or gin in mine.

Best Poker is Aria, Best Craps is Cesar's, Best Slots is anywhere on Fremont street or Excalibur, Best looking girls are at Cosmopolitan, Strongest drinks are at Flamingo.

Did that steak just turn into ash when you cut into it?
That is their "Rare". Looked like a hockey puck but wasn't too bad. I didn't know what to expect for $8 which included everything you see in the picture (yes, the beer too).

The red thing is a marker for doneness and you can see mine was red.

The thing in the background says 'A balanced diet is one beer in each hand', but they only gave you one?!? Those bastards!

These! Absinthe is the best show on the strip if you aren't easily offended.

"The secret pizza place" on the top floor of the Cosmopolitian is some of the best pizza Ive had! Cheap, sold by the big slice! There really is no Title to the place and doesn't even have a sign. We accidentally found it looking for a restroom! Take the main escalator to the top floor and as you get off on the top floor, just keep walking straight ahead. You will come to a long 30' narrow hallway with album covers (or something) on the walls. Next thing you know, you're in a small pizza shop! Its considered a local's hidden gem. And they're open late!
