Big match tomorrow night. Our RPI is up to 15th this week. Kansas is at 16. Win and we likely are locked in as being one of the 16 seeded teams in the NCAAs (assuming we don't drop either of the winnable home matches to close out the season). Lose at Kansas and win the last two home matches we are probably right on the line between being the last seeded team and the first unseeded team.

I can't see it tomorrow night because of other responsibilities. However, I wish them well, hoping that they keep playing like they have been playing. It be so sweet to win this game.

Don't know if that's true...the committee looks at several other things other than RPI. Remember that we aren't even ranked in the top 25, and are last among teams receiving votes. We'll have to beat more than just KU to get a seed.

ESPN3 is online. If you get ESPN on any kind of TV subscription you can probably sign in to ESPN3. Blackout rules may apply, however.
Thanks Royal. I've tried ESPN3 online in the past and have been asked to give my TV/Cable subscriber. When I enter Charter Internet (I do not have cable) and DirecTV (for satellite broadcast) it indicates online ESPN3 broadcasts are not supported at this link: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/id/2099949/iowa-state-vs-kansas-w-volleyball I am not in the limited blackout area (which is mostly in Kansas): http://espn.go.com/watchespn/blackout?id=2099949 I've called DTV and complained and they offer no resolution. Maybe something has changed, so I'll be hopeful and try again tonight.

The volleyball selection committee in past years has been really RPI centric. If we win tonight and hold serve at home we are looking at an RPI in the 12-14 range on selection day. I can't remember many times from the last few years that a seeded team was more than 3 or 4 spots different from their RPI rank.

especially as more comments come out from coaches saying they don't fill out the AVCA poll/don't update it like they should. RPI is king for volleyball. The fact that we are a regional host will likely nail it for us as long as we don't implode these last few games.

That is my only point - we have to beat more than just KU. RPI is important, but so are rankings.
For example, Marquette's RPI before the tourney was 8 - they didn't get a seed.
Hawaii's RPI was 17 - they were seeded at 11.
Kentucky's RPI was 10 - they were seeded 15.
Illinois's RPI was 20 - they were seeded 13.
Rankings matter to the committee too. We will need to be ranked in the top 20 IMO.

I'm super proud of this team. They have definitely experienced their fair share of adversity over the course of this season, but they've improved and gone on one heck of a streak here to round out the regular season. This team has a ton of youth and proved that youth through our lack of consistency nearly all year long. Overall, I had kind of just chalked this season up as a rebuilding year where we'd probably squeak into the tourney, but not do too much above and beyond that. However, they proved me wrong and if this is what a rebuilding year looks like under CJL, I'd call ourselves pretty blessed. The good news too is that we return everyone except Hurtt and Goetz next season, then add on top of that our best recruiting class ever, and we could have one heck of a team next year. With that said, lets not look to far ahead as we've got an opportunity to wreak some havoc in the tourney this year still. Go Clones!

The game is now working for me via ESPN3 on-line with no explanation - great news as I tuned in Iowa State pop for a set!

ISU really played better system ball than KU imo, but ISU just had difficulties dealing with all the out of system rolls and out of the ordinary attacks by KU.

Tough loss against KU, but losing to KU on the road is hardly a bad loss for us. Lets pick up these last two home games and we'll still have good momentum heading into the tourney.

It would have been a big boost to win. It seemed like our serve receive was really poor. They really went after our bigs when the were playing back row. While we were trying to place too many kills, they were smashing at our back row. But, it's over now. They have 3 games left including at UT, and home for OU. If they go 1-2, and we win out, we're in better shape.
