That place was always pretty busy. Thats too bad we are losing the only winter golf locale in the city, maybe even state.

What sort of winter golf options are left in Des Moines? I am moving down from the Twin Cities, where a number of indoor practice facilities and simulators are available. I didn't go to them a lot but nice to have when I did want to go hit some balls.

GolfTec. Golf Galaxy has their simulators and indoor lessons. Does Legacy have an indoor center? Not sure of any others.

I'm not sure about Des Moines but Marshalltown has an indoor golf simulator.

Wow…and to think…the one customer that would have made it financially worthwhile to continue only lived 15 minutes away…

The article does not state they were in financial trouble. The developer probably made a too sweet to pass up type of deal. What I was trying to say is if there were one in Ankeny I would go a lot. I currently go to the dome about once every other week. So relax, Chief Snark.

I know. That is why I purposefully said "worthwhile" not viable.

You made a throwaway comment. No biggy. Just havin' some fun with ya.

I'm not sure of the status of this, but in a couple buildings that are being rehabed near Principal Park, this was one of the potential tenants:

One tenant that will occupy about 6,000 square feet of space is billed as an indoor country club, where golfers can play courses that spread out on giant simulators. On Monday, Eychaner will ask the Des Moines City Council to approve a drop-off lane to accommodate patrons who want to deposit their clubs and then park their cars before heading inside for a round of golf.

Here's the building in question:
