Should they throw to Todd, yes. Should that be the sole plan, no. They have to develop other plays - and the best time for that is the practice field and against the smaller teams at the beginning. I expect to see Blythe get the ball a lot more as the season progresses, but I'm not going to be upset if it isn't against UNLV.

When I see espn scrolls on other teams with WRs getting 10-12 receptions, 150+ yards, 2 tds, I wonder why don't we have that every week? If not Blythe, how about Flynn, Davis, or Sumrall? The talent is there.
As Al_4_state pointed, is anyone NOT preparing for Blythe and Co just because they are the focal? No way. I don't know if Mac is thinking he is outsmarting other teams or what. Keith Murphy brought up a good point in his latest blog about how uiowa under-used Dwight and I hope we aren't going to see that we Blythe.
Our strength is the WRs and if we use them correctly we will have a good year. If we would have used them the 2nd half at KU, we would be B12 N defending champs.

I agree.

What happens...say...we solely depend on Blythe through the first 3-5 games on the season. Then...

A. He gets hurt. We've got no other proven offensive game plan other than "THROW IT TO BLYTHE!".

B. Defenses will adjust accordingly. It's like when you take Vicodin every day for a month or so. Eventually your body gets used to it and it doesn't have the same affect.

While I think Blythe should get more than 5 balls a game (no less than 7...s/b around 9-12)...we must develop the rest of our offense. A coach that solely depends on one star player is not a good coach. That becomes apparent if/when star player gets hurt and the coach is found on the sidelines in a catatonic stupor.

How 'bout balance? We got a great SET of receivers (especially if you include TE's). If Flynn gets 15 receptions for 175 yards, will we still complain that Blythe didn't get more than Flynn? If we put up 500 yards passing but no single player gets more than 80 yards will you complain?

Intelligent life does exist!

I loved the fact that last year...our leading receiver for yardage and receptions were two different receivers.

Tells me we've got 2 great WR's...one that will burn you down the field and another workhorse, posession WR. Plus, Flynn can burn ya too. :Guns:

You answer yourself:

The talent is there....Our strength is the WRs

We have multiple great WRs. Most of the time the WRs with the big stats are their team's only good WR. We have many good WRs so we spread the love around some.
