I just don't think Bush cuts to 174 to redshirt. I think he will tryout and if he is better than Swalla and Strickland, he will wrestle

Bush does not have a redshirt left. He wrestled for Wartburg 3 years ago and Iowa Central last year. I don't think he is eligible until the 2nd semester based on transferring.

He's done well at 184 but almost all his matches there were against non D-1 opponents. Against D-1 guys he hasn't done very well. So it is tough to make a guess how much of an improvement he'd be. But if he wants the spot and can take it then all power to him.

You're right. He's a redshirt Junior. I was just looking at WrestleStat instead of the cyclones.com roster and they had him as a freshman.

Edit: Not that it matters because our next meet is in the 2nd semester. But if he graduated from Iowa Central why wouldn't he be eligible right away? He was unnattached today so I assume you're right about him not being eligible to wrestle for ISU right now.

I don't know all the transfer rules, but it seems that P. Downey came to us under the same circumstances--from Iowa Central--then was eligible to wrestle 2nd semester.

Downey's issue was (just like it is for going to Iowa) that he didn't graduate until the end of fall semester. He wasn't on the 1st semester roster.

Pat hadn't graduated from Iowa Central until after the 1st semester. Maybe Bush is the same circumstance. I am not sure

Dante still has to wrestle. He has by far the toughest opponent. He's on deck right now.

Didn't Marcus Harrington get beat by Hillger of Wisconsin recently?

I think is might be the same guy Gremmel just beat

Hilger beat Harrington 3-1 at Joe Parisi last month. Harrington has also split 2 matches against Isley

Results are trending in a positive direction. That’s good to read. Gremmel, Simmons, Dante, Bush... all still vying for the varsity spot. Or so it seems.

I really like the change of more wrestling for non varsity. It seemed like our redshirts/ back ups didn’t get many matches in the past 4-5 years. The only way to truly improve is live competition.

Dante loses 8-11. It looked like it was going to go to OT but he got caught trying to get a reversal late and gave up backpoints. He takes 2nd at 149.

Storr beat Wagner 4-0 earlier this year.
Parker beat Wagner 4-0 and Simmons lost in SV. Obvious that Simmons, Dante, Bush, Gremmel are not the same wrestlers they were in first week of the season. Hopefully, the starters show some improvement tonight. Otherwise, I expect quite a bit different lineup in the second semester.

Good tourney for us. simmons teched wagner who he lost to earlier, gremmel beat isley who pinned him earlier and is 1-1 vs harrington, hilger who beat harrington earlier and costello a strong true frosh for iowa.

Bush graduated high school in 2014 so I had assumed he had redshirted while at iowa central. now at 174 I would think he has to be the starter.
