Way up there
The idea that they consciously kept UCF low enough to not be a problem is the issue here. We see it with p5 teams not just the UCF's of the world. There is always a deliberate effort to keep b1g and SEC teams ranked high enough to justify moving them in when its convenient. They know people will only focus on the top 4 so they can do whatever they like from 8-15 or so, they take advantage of this and use it to manipulate which teams are in position to move in when a top 4 team loses.

I think Frost seems like a good dude who stayed with his team the whole way but for Nebbie fans' sake I want them to be really disappointed within the next 4 years, and then for Frost to go somewhere else and win it all with a P5 but 'non-brand' program.
At Iowa State after Campbell goes to Ohio St. (the only job I think he leaves ISU for)

Can I be the first to say that when the playoff expands to 8 teams: THE NUMBER 9 AND 10 TEAMS ARE GETTING SCREWED!!!!!!! IT IS A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE THAT THE NUMBER 9 TEAM IS LEFT OUT!!! Life should be fair!!!
This whole argument is so boring. BORING!!!! The bowl system was unique and great the way it was, and you usually got a national champion and sometimes got two....WHO CARES!!! Good for Colorado AND Penn State or Washington or whatever when we had two national champs by poll votes. That was kind of cool actually. Do some of you actually wish that after beating Memphis by 1 point we would get to go play, say, Wisconsin and get out ass handed to us to fulfill some stupid playoff system???
Good Grief, there is a winter bomb cyclone wreaking havoc and mean people all over America that need to be destroyed and we are worried about a football playoff.
Alabama is and always will be the national champion until Sabin retires...get used to it. If UCF wins 11 games next year I think you might see some conference invitations too.

..... Do some of you actually wish that after beating BC on a lucky fumble we would get to go play, say, Stanford and get out ass handed to us to fulfill some stupid playoff system???.....
.

FIFY. Thought you might be talking to a fan base of a team with a history of getting into bowls games they don't belong in.

"The College Football Playoff is not an officially sanctioned championship event by the NCAA, the sport's governing body. Consequently, Division I FBS football is the only NCAA sport in which a yearly national champion is not determined by an NCAA event, nor is an official NCAA national championship awarded."

They have as much right to it as anyone does. It's all about as ridiculous as the AP determining the National Champion, which was the way it done before the BCS. FBS football is a joke.

Looking through their schedule they beat number 7 and number 20 twice, the second time just barely. The fact that they finished 13-0 is impressive, but take away the results of the bowl game, which you have no idea of when placing a bowl team, and while showy in total wins, the opponents are not super impressive. Nice they gave the coaches bonuses, but if the most impressive win you have all year is beating Memphis twice (ISU manged to do it on theri home field with lots of starters out), hard to put you in the top 4 teams. Definitely would have been in the top 8 though.

This part is false. Since 1988, besides the 1997 UNL Cornhuskers/UM Wolverines when has there not been vast agreement on the champion?

1990: Colorado (AP), Georgia Tech (UPI/Coaches)
1991: Miami (AP), Washington (UPI/Coaches)

The Bowl Coalition was started in 1992 as a result of the back-to-back split titles. Bowl Coalition (1992-94) later morphed into Bowl Alliance (1995-97), and then the BCS (1998-2013).

I think teams 5 and 6 have a much stronger case in competing than teams 9 and 10. After that, your post made no sense.

They were at least as good as the 1984 BYU Cougars who WERE declared the national champions after finishing undefeated against a much crappier schedule than UCF this year - including a Holiday Bowl win (on December 21st - so not a major bowl) over a very average Michigan team. Michigan finished 6-6 on the year and in 6th place in the Big 10 (who only had 10 teams back then).

BYU was the only undefeated major college team that year.
