I never blamed the kid for leaving if he was gonna get a big bag of money, I just don't understand lying about it.

By the time Hunter decided to transfer, Jeremiah Williams was already committed along with Tamin Lipsey. Throw in Jaren Holmes and there certainly would have been less pressure at the PG position than last year.

Way up there
The phrasing of the question in the poll do you believe Hunter in that "NIL had NOTHNG to do with moving to TEXAS", well sure, i think that NIL has SOMETHING to do with athletes choosing to go to texas. So my answer would be No.

But if the question was around "NIL had nothing to do with leaving ISU", my answer would be yeah I could believe that. Reading between the lines from TJ's comments and other things I had heard, I could understand that maybe Tyrese didn't enjoy his time in Ames. Not everyone has to love it here like we do, I hope so but it's not for everyone. Plus he was recruited by a different coach who is no longer here. TJ has a different style and a way of doing things and like TJ said, they never built that trust between each other.

So yeah, I guess I don't care anymore and whatever. But F### this guy on 1/17, amirite?
I think this is reasonable but Hunter didn't mention any of this. This would be teh easiest out he had and he went another direction. If this were a factor, he could have said so. He totally contradicted every reason he gave when he ended up at Texas. His reasons not matching up with reality make it really seem like he wasn't being truthful.

Oh, there's a game on 1/17/23? Did not know that! Haha.

Yes, you are right. He will be fudged in Ames, on 1/17.

Who do we play again then?

This. Who cares? He gave us a good year, and now he's somewhere else. I don't care why. Whether he took money or not doesn't change the year that he gave us, nor does it change that he's not here now. It's not worth losing a wink of sleep over.
This is a horrible take! You're no fun at all! LOL

Mr Janny, I'm kidding! You're right. Still no fun though! :p
Will anyone lose sleep over it? I think not. Might some think less of him for telling fibs? Maybe.
Haha! Nice Avatar change bro!

Only half serious but stick with me on this. If Tyrese only came to ISU for 1 coaching staff and the thought that they would give him the best opportunity to be the best point guard he can be, then why didn't he just transfer to Murray St this off-season?
I’m not saying I wish he was still our coach (wish him the best…but don’t want that), but that guy puts players in the NBA. I seriously wonder if Burton, Nader, Thomas, Niang, and Long would not have made it to the NBA if it weren’t for Steve Prohm.

If he just said 'I appreciated my time at ISU, and felt like I needed a change and Texas was the best fit' it takes care of it instead of unraveling the whole thing.

Oh well. College sports kind of suck right now so some drama in there maybe makes things interesting.

I have a feeling all of them would. There was a lot of self drive in those players. I think Prohm had a knack for identifying the it factor, not developing it.

I wish the players would just come out and say..."I needed the money and that,s why I left and went elsewhere!"

BE A MAN AND JUST SAY THAT IOWA STATE CAN NO LONGER AFFORD ME!

AT LEAST THAT WOULD BE THE TRUTH!

I’m surprised so many disagree. Agree to disagree I guess. I’m not saying I fully understand why he was able to do what he did. Team building certainly wasn’t one of his strengths. But I didn’t hear hardly anyone talk about any of those guys being NBA material…with Georges being the possible exception (as a long-shot). And then to have two players be one and done when that wasn’t expected. Plus I forgot about Shayok…

I don’t know - I’m just convinced there’s something there. In particular I did not see Matt Thomas as having a prayer at making the NBA under Hoiberg. And Nader? Just wonder if he’s good at helping guys develop a skill set that’s appealing to the NBA…but that doesn’t lead to winning college basketball.

Think it boils down to our guys having the culture in place already. Steve's guys didn't for the most part. The ones who did(Haliburton, Shayok, NWB) became stars but the ones who didn't floundered and Prohm had 0 idea how to get the buy in from people who didn't just do it instantly

Ppl joke, but I 1000% credit Prohm staff for Nader turning the corner. Also needs some credit for successfully recruiting and signing Tyrese Halliburton and THT
