If he hasnt taken his redshirt year yet its no big deal if ISU wont release him to Iowa....he can just use it for the "penalty" year and then compete the following year. Iowa has plenty of quality kids, several on the young side in the 125-133 area with another in Ramos coming next year so it would be a tough road if he does decide to head east

I fully expect a lot of questions to be answered this week. The Tyler Clark rumors, assistants being hired and the beginning of who else is staying or potentially leaving. IT doesnt make much sense to me for Clark to go to Iowa. They do have several guys in the lighterweights with a lot of talent. I am more concerned if eric thompson is staying or not.

was it a release w/o restrictions??....if so that was a pretty classy thing to do by Pollard and Jackson

If it is w/o restrictions, it would be the first on campus wrestler this year afforded that opportunity. A number of wrestlers have asked (especially from the freshmen class and Varner) to have their release and been told not likely and definitely not happening to Iowa or Penn State. I like the original policy because it has kept Thompson, Spangler, and Varner here. If ISU is changing their policy, then I'm not a real big fan of it. If it's case by case, Jackson must figure Long is better than Clark so let him go to Iowa if he wants.

I really don't understand why, but I'm sure he has his reasons. They have a good shot at the national title next year.

There was talk that Clark was going to RS next year before Sanderson left fwiw, hopefully it just means Long is the real deal.

I liked Tyler and wish him well, but this gives us a chance to put Long in the line up. Imo, I think he'll do very well... AA.

Clark was not released to Iowa so he'll have to sit out next year. Good decision by ISU.

so has he come out and said that he is for sure going to iowa? or is that just message board fodder that you are taking for a sure thing?

I don't get why he would go to Iowa with all the talent they have at the lower weights. Also is Brands willing to give up some scholarship money for another lower weight kid? Maybe he is paying his own way.
