Two Things Can Be True...Yet Seem Contradictory

When Holmes and kalscheur were hot and grill was playing better we were good. They are not now and we are still decent. Great thing about basketball is they can get hot again and our defense will still be there.
There's 2 games left (at least) before the NCAA or NIT tournaments. Better start getting hot NOW.

Not exactly sure.
Who are the shooters in that bunch? Milan? Don't tell me Grill...he's unreliable at best right now.
No idea, but Williams is supposed to be the point guard so when someone names 4 and he’s not one of them, it’s the easy call.

In response to OP. I would be surprised if we have success in the NCAA's if we lose our next 2 games. The confidence of this team seems fragile, so I feel we need a good showing at Baylor and win a Big12 Tourney game. Especially if we play Wed night.

TJ has done a solid job the first 2 years. But specific to this year, I feel like opponents have "solved" our defensive pressure and are taking advantage of our switching 1-5. The reality is Osun, Kunc, King & Jones can't effectively defend guards. I just look back at the number of recent half's where opponents have scored 35+ points, topped by UT's 47.

I believe the future is bright. And I love having a basketball brand focused on defense. But starting next year we need to have an effective & exciting offensive team.

I agree completely. I think that maybe this team maxed out their potential early, and have struggled to maintain that level of play (which is understandable given the high floor of Big 12 teams this year). I would love to see them have a little success before the tournament, but if they don't, I don't think it automatically means that they will be one and done in the tournament.
It is entirely possible we may not be even one and done according to CBS Sports. We may be on the outside looking in if we can't find a win before the end of the season...

Comes down to OSU then. They win and we are probably a 7. If they lose, we are a 6

So hope we are the 7th seed to draw OU? Because a 6 seed gets us Baylor or Texas.

I would think being a higher seed would look good...but another win would look better. And the way the guys are struggling I think I would rather take my chances on Wednesday against OU even though they just beat us. But you don't dare lose to them again because that would be twice in 2 weeks to the last place team. That along with the tailspin!

What a s*** sandwich.

I will take the 6, I’m not confident enough in is beating anyone.

I was reading the comments from Facebook last night after the brutality, and I was frozen on one simple comment. This team doesn’t have a rally around leader on the court when we hit rough patches. He’s absolutely right!

Had try the team won 2 lost 2 and ended up with the same record people would probably be more tolerant.

They inflated expectations with early success. Fans are not always the most rationale bunch.

They ended up finishing higher in the league than preseason polls said they would. If you use that as your benchmark in what may be the best league ever you should be pretty happy.
The pundits were obviously wrong. I don't fuss much about the team, but this is a team that could be in 2nd Place right now with reasonably expected wins over teams below them in the standings. Just the 3 losses at Hilton (oSu, OU and WVU) and the mind-blowing loss @ TT turned into wins would have ISU at 12-5 in Big Xii play. Not worth going over the ledge about, but it is frustrating as a fan, because they are capable of more than they have achieved IMO regardless of the pre-season expectations.

In all of those losses, having a 3 or 4 that can be 'multiple' in their ability to score the ball probably at least splits those games. ISU lost their minds for segments of games and needed that type of guy on the floor with them. Instead it's several one dimensional types trying to figure out what can work.

I think all of us are a little underwhelmed with Osun offensively. Big time shot blocker/alter though. Which is obviously valuable.
