What are some trendy upset picks you see but aren’t buying? Others not many are taking about but you think can happen?

I can see many still on the Drake bandwagon. Missouri is not as good as a few weeks ago but I still think Tigers win.

A&M will not lose to Yale.

Clemson won’t lose to McNeese

I’m not picking it but I think UNCW will give Tech fits.

I do think VCU beats BYU

Also leaning towards Akron over AZ

CSU over Mem is an easy pick to me

VCU is a tough draw for BYU (I think they got screwed with a 6 seed), but if they advance, a BYU/Alabama match up would be a really fun watch.

I think Akron could give Arizona a game.
McNeese is good.

I'm not picking Vandy over StMarys.

I’d like to see Drake beat Missouri. If they do, they have a realistic chance at a sweet 16, as I think Texas Tech might be in trouble.

I think Ole Miss might struggle with whoever comes in from the play-in game. Always tough when the other team already has the first game jitters out of the way and a little taste of success. Illinois could have a problem with that too as Jekyll and Hyde as they have been.

Yeah I don’t have Illinois winning a game

They were resting guys in the Big 12 tournament as well. Any clue on their status? Williams and Anderson I believe.

Note it was McMillan not Anderson

If the 3-point shots are falling, BYU can beat anyone, but with poor defense can also lose to nearly anyone. Really reminds me of a Hoiberg coached team with the NBA philosophy.

UNC has got a lot of criticism but their metrics are strong and I am sure they have athletes. They could easily be fired up, chip-on-shoulder and beat a good-not-great Ole Miss team.

I'm having a tough time with this VCU BYU game.
I'm only taking BYU because of altitude and turnaround.
VCU played Sunday and this game is Thursday.

I think I saw they expect McMillan and Williams to play, but as of now, they aren’t sure how much they will play. Also…Toppin wasn’t right at Big12’s either. Now…that appeared to be mostly an illness, but never know how that might impact him.

VCU over BYU has been mentioned. I just think VCU kind of resembles Houston with length and athleticism everywhere. They play aggressively on defense and will throw BYUs timing off. Bad matchup for BYU, I'll be picking VCU in any bracket I end up doing.

I think the 2nd tier of SEC teams are in trouble. Save for Mizzou, who others have mentioned too, but I think have a little too much fire power for a Drake. Drakes only shot at pulling the upset is if they can drag Mizzou down into the mud with them, which is what they do to everybody they play. If Missouri is having a cold shooting day will be the only lifeline Drake will get. The rest of that 2nd tier of SEC teams -Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State etc- all good candidates to be upset. I will even be tempted to pick Troy over Kentucky I think, although it seems sacrilege to pick a 14 over a 3.

i hope i'm wrong but I think missouri beats drake bad. I just don't think drakes style of play and relying on one player so much is gonna work against a really athletic p4 team.

Yeah I don't think Drake can score enough points to keep pace with Mizzou.

The Drake game comes down to how frustrated Missouri gets. Drake is going to get their tempo, can Missouri play in the quarter court and make good decisions with the ball in a low possession game?

Overall this tournament feels kind of 'chalk-y' to me. I don't see a ton of upsets. I can see Grand Canyon giving Maryland fits for a while and Colorado State frustrating Memphis but I think the higher seeds win both. I think Montana will play with Wisconsin for a while.

Upsets are going to get less common as the resources gap widens and we're starting to see it already.

Colorado St over Memphis, who seems radically overseeded to me.

I don't think Yale surprises anyone again.

I like BYU over Bama - if they get past VCU...

Feels pretty chalky to me this year in general. Lot of distance between the top 4-6 teams, and the next 8-10.
