Here's a summary:

10. Art History
9. Philosophy
8. American Studies
7. Music Therapy
6. Communications
5. Dance
4. English Lit
3. Latin
2. Film
1. Religion

I would agree with the list - in terms of what degrees are least likely to get you a job. Once a person has a job, the worst paying fields I would argue, are those that deal w/ kids... i.e. social work, education, child care, etc. Nothing like putting money where it matters, right America.

Anyway, read this article, it's pretty funny. Good find Cyched.

People work eight hours/day and sleep eight hours/day. That leaves eight hours for "leisure." I spend lots of time planning my leisure time activities.

Communications is a decent major. Otherwise the list looks fairly accurate. Most majors are fine if you know what to do with it.

You can easily get into sales if you are a communications major. If you can sell, you'll make more than most engineers and attorneys.

The 10 Most Worthless College Majors – Holytaco

On top of this, I believe the U of I has a "Leisure Studies" major.

It's amazing what some people will waste their tuition on. The commentary on each one is pretty funny too:biglaugh:
I am pretty sure it is still an honor to have a college degree. One stat I read was that only 37% of Americans have a four year degree. To call a college degree "worthless" is short-sighted and arrogant.

If you can stop shaving and look pathetic while holding tin cup, you can make more than most engineers. Plus, we don't get free tickets to take "clients" to The Masters like the sales guys.

Communications!!! It is pretty easy if you don't mind writing a ton of papers and acting like you care about all the corporate BS they try to teach you about. I literally looked at what major would need the least amount of credits to graduate. Communications was the winner, either way, all you need is a piece of paper in the Insurance world, and I really didn't need it, just didn't want the question asked why I didn't have a degree.

Pretty sure it is under 30% to drive your point home even further.

EDIT: Here is an article that says 28% and I have seen similar numbers: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/05_47/b3960108.htm

If you take the number of people that have any college it is over 50%, but only high 20s% have degrees.

Marketing belongs on there! The only reason it's not is because some Marketing major probably sold the writer on the idea it was only 11th worst.....for a limited time only......
