I agree that we didn't have everything available to us all day long, but there were missed opportunities and in a game like this, you HAVE TO hit them. Iowa basically beat us on 3 plays yesterday. The 60 yard run and the 40ish yard pass play both led to points and the pick 6 essentially sealed it. Iowa made their handful of plays, and we didn't. Same as it ever was. Win in the margins my ass.
Campbell saying how proud he is and that this is our best effort against Iowa rings hollow with me. Talk about a low bar. This has been the turd that won't flush his entire tenure and as long as he is unwilling or unable to change his approach, the results will remain exactly the same.
Heacock has to be the most patient and forgiving person on the face of the earth. How he can continue to develop talent and create masterpieces on one side of the ball, only to watch an inept offense piss it away game after game is beyond me. That guy should have millions in his bank account and rings on a few fingers but instead chooses to stick around here and pray that we can somehow scratch out 3 tuddys so that Campbell can get to the postgame presser and throw around his catch phrases for 15 minutes. Unreal.
I've literally never been less happy to be in Ames than I was yesterday. Having the mouth breathers milling around all day yelling GO HAWKS at each other like a bunch of tourette's patients, knowing there's not a damn thing we're going to do to shut them up is getting really old. The good news is, we'll soon get an email or hear Pollard on some show saying how this is our fault. We're not giving enough to the Foundation or to the Collective, or we're not sticking around in the game long enough, or we're tailgating too long. Shut up and get back in line people. Meanwhile we've ruined one of the best tailgating scenes in college football so that we can have a few more places to buy a $10 beer and a $25 burger. So we got that goin' for us...which is nice.
