Don't go home for the summer.
This.
I loved being in Ames over the summer. It's a lot less busy. The bars aren't crowded and are pretty chill, which is nice for a change. Yes, it's always nice when everybody comes back and the big parties and crowded bars start again, but that 3 month dead period is nice.
Oh, and the disc golf courses aren't overly crowded with dorm floors playing together as 9-some.

So being a doctor isn't a real job, got it.

sigh....because Iowa State produces so many human doctors?

Kids that want to be vets and engineers don't need to be told to study. If you can't maintain a 2.5 GPA by falling out of bed and going to class twice a week then maybe college isn't for you.

Grad School is for people that are afraid of getting real jobs.

Or it's a great for someone looking to get professional certification to do stuff (you know...doctors...lawyers...CPAs...professors...)

Grad School is for people that are afraid of getting real jobs. The only thing more worthless than an MBA is the person that decided an MBA is a good, or necessary choice.

Disagree with that. Grad school can be valuable for a lot of careers. It makes all the difference for science majors...the difference between QC-type jobs and actual research. Not to mention, there's law school, med school, pharmacy school, etc. MBA's can also be very valuable for some people...especially science and engineering majors. Gaining some business acumen can really help broaden those people and get them into management faster.

Is that South Dakota State or San Diego State? If it is South Dakota State, what family reasons/connections do you have? My parents met and got married while they were students at South Dakota State.

When I was looking at colleges, it came down to South Dakota State and Iowa State. I loved the SDSU campus and what they had to offer, but Iowa State was able to match that and I just felt more "at home" in Ames.

South Dakota State. My Grandpa, Grandma, and my Dad graduated from there. My Grandpa was the first president of the rodeo club there. Due to my family having a ranching operation out in central SD, I can take classes there and work out there since it's only a 2 hour drive.
