Maybe I'm just not overly familiar with Tim Floyd's character, but this kind of shocked me.

NCAAM Isaac Hamilton denied release - ESPN

In summary, Floyd won't let his prized recruit out of his letter of intent so that said recruit can go play for a school closer to his sick grandmother, says that what he's doing, he's doing for UTEP's own good. Whoa.

Given the facts as they are presented in that article, I have no problem with what Floyd is doing. From that article, it doesn't sound as if the grandmother is gravely ill (apparently she can still get out to games).

My take of this article is that the medical hardship claim sounds pretty weak. College basketball recruiting/transfer rules make me feel gross anyway.

Was always wondering how he landed that guy in the first place.

This situation sounds fishy. I agree with UTEP and Floyd, schools should do this more often, as stated above. Something will have to change, not only with this situation, but with all the transferring going on, I expect some kind of ruling will be changed by the NCAA in regards to transfers in the near future.

i love that floyd went after enfield and told him off. funny how one brother has to be close to grandma in so cal, but his other brother just signed with Uconn? i guess grandma's dying wish is to only see one of her grandkids play.

C'mon..we all know Grandmas have favorites, despite what they say. There's a reason why she baked chocolate chip cookies for your sister, but made the rest of you eat rhubarb from her garden...

And yet, Floyd could find another job and move out of town by the end of the week.

I'm still okay with Floyd cuz I want him to recruit and be an assistant for Fred at ISU some day. Okay...maybe that's a little bit of a stretch. lol

I know only two things about Tim Floyd's character that are important to me.

A. He won while he was at Iowa State.

B. His wife, Beverly, is utterly drop dead gorgeous.

That is all. And not necessarily in that order.

Floyd is absolutely right. I highly doubt that the heart conditions have just now become a priority. If Hamilton is going to sign an NLI, he has to honor that NLI if the school wants him to. He can't just get out because he wants to go play for USC. He had that opportunity and it is long gone. If his grandmother's health hasn't seriously deteriorated, and she wasn't a priority when he signed with UTEP, then she isn't a priority now.

Enfield is giong to burn some bridges quick if he keeps tampering with recruits. I have no doubt Enfield would do this. He was the feel good story of the year last year. However, No nerdy dude like him could pull that hot model wife of his without telling some good lies. He is going to be Scott Drew part 2.
