1. The tunnel, helmet, and smoke.... were AWESOME!

2. The siren absolutely sucked. Nothing more than a clown's "arroooooga, arroooggga." Talk about pathetic! I would rather they just take that away unless they can replace it with something better.

3. I was one of the students throwing out t-shirts about 15 mins before kick-off, which was a blast. I think a lot of fans liked it.

4. The pre-game cheer was cool, yet weak. This will be improved upon, it was the first time, after all.

5. "Watcha gonna do, watcha gonna do" cheer is good, although it was supposed to be "Watcha gonna do, I-S-U!," not sure if it will change, but most likely not.

6. Fireworks? They were just fireworks... most people were too tired to stick around after an elongated game like that. I would have enjoyed a 2-3 minute finale type display right when the game ended instead of one or two at a time.

7. Crowd- definately into it--- at times. Still need to be louder for all parts of the game, but I was proud of how loud we were at the end, very reminiscent of Colorado.

Overall, very fun, most changes or additions were very cool, but more improvements/changes should be done to some of these.

Almost forgot, the field's paint job looked very nice.

One more thing. Our sound system needs a definate improvement! I could barely hear it most of the time where I was (north side of student section). I think they should add some speakers on the north side. I can't hear what's being said most of the time, and some of the music should be louder.

What was cool: helmet/team/camera in the tunnel, post game fireworks (although watching while trying to exit the stadium was a little difficult); announcer's encouragement to get into the game. What was mediocre: tornado "sirens"...couldn't hear outside the stadium...and sounded more like a submarine horn from an old war movie...I half expected to hear someone yell "dive, dive, dive". Actual tornado siren would be far cooler. Cheers before the game were great idea but they've got the wrong guy leading them. Jeff Johnson may be a great guy but he's no chearleader. Lacks the polish to pull it off. Get somebody out there who's experienced at working the crowd and it'll be a lot more professional...and fun.

Overall a great time with lots of nice stuff. Glad I popped for the season tickets (first time season ticketholder) so I'll see more than a couple of games this year.

Jeff Johnson did about as well as anyone could, standing in the middle of the field by himself with a voice that sounded like he had cheered for 4 quarters and 3 OT's already before the game started. They have to add cheerleaders with signs in the corners in order to make those chants work, especially while they're new.

Not everything was great the first time, but they will get better. I like that some of the old stuff was kept. Was Jump Around dropped, though or did I just miss it?

3. Pre game cheers - shows promise
4. Anouncer commentary was good when I could hear it. I don't recall having problems hearing the anouncer last year.

Amen. I couldn't hear in the NW corner, either.

Yeah...what was up with the sound? Were we that much louder or did they have it muted? Was never a problem before.

I'm not sure, but I think it's always been like that. Hard to hear anything on the North side. I never heard the "what a hit" comment or the "students stand up on your feet and get loud" comment either. Comments like that heard by the students would make us go wild! Also I think a lot of students are too intoxicated to understand what down it is, so when the PA announces "3rd down or 4th down," they may finally realize that they should be making some damn noise.

I sounds like Pollard is doing great things for Jack Trice, Ames, and the rest of the state of Iowa.. But He also needs to think not just locally but nationally. This Thursday night game with 2 up and coming teams should have been on nationally or atleast regionally covered on T.V. I couldnt even go watch it at a sports bar down here in houston. Then the audio video feed websites did not pick it up except for Yahoo which costs money. Of course my media player is to old for Yahoo Streaming so I got stuck on the phone all night listening to the game via phone through speaker!! There goes my phone bill.

I sat by Lance last year during the Iowa game! We all loved him! That is another fun section.

The first down guy is the best!!!! He seemed awfully sober last night though. Hopefully a weekend game will bring him back to form. Go Clones!!!

I was in S5 parking lot and had no problem hearing music, sirens and other stuff on JTS sound system. it was a nice touch but worry about another colorado game with real tornados. what was it that boy cried wolf?

the atmosphere I loved it nice to get back to tailgating and the students showed in force. I missed the half time ticket sales/attendance

Pollards in your face approach is great hope he continues to get out into the crowd. definately a breath of fresh life.

good to see old players come back and get honored continue what is becoming a tradition

cant wait for UNLV

The shirt thing was lame. They said if you got in your seat early they would throw out shirts and such. Well we were in our seats in the third row at least an hour and a half before game time. They had students 10 minutes before game time come out and throw the shirts 30 rows above our heads even after we tried nicely telling the kid how long we had been there and to toss us a bone. Not a big deal as they were probably throwing mediums out, but the wife could have always sported it.
As for the sirens, they were cheesy because I expected so much more the way they were talked about. They just put a siren sound on the stadium PA and you could hear them from Hilton, but I don't know about to the South of the stadium.
The tunnel and helmet were a nice change of pace.
The band thing just didn't seem to be much different.
A nice attempt by Pollard, but the hype of the talk seemed like more than they actually amounted to. But my expectations could have been a little too much.

Warning Sirens - Could have been cool but you could hear them north of Jacobson building.

Tunnel helmet...Nice addtion

Cheer leader b/4 game. Will become a great tradition once fans learn the cheers. Parts came off weak, but it will get better. If you have been to games at some of the big programs around the country it is similar to what I have seen. I thought fans responded well.

Play by Play announcer was into game and clearly was coached on getting fans into it.

Band was more aggressive during entire game.

Music overall was good...but what was the Neil Diamond at half time.

Lots of little changes. Everything is branded now. Its not a T Galaxy store in the stadium its Cy's Lockeroom. There is Cy BBQ, Cy Burgers, The little stands separate from concession stands are now Cy's Express etc.

Overall Outstanding work by an outstanding AD

The Neil Diamond song was great! I'm a student and "Sweet Caroline" is one of the most fun songs to sing along to. Lots of students were singing it, they need to make sure to play that at every game along with "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, which people sang along to a lot last year but they didn't play that much.

I thought the helmet was half cheesy, half cool. I was waiting for one of the players to get confused coming out of the smoke though and run over a member of the band.

The "Warning Sirens" were pathetic, I heard it four times to many last night. I've sent an e-mail to the marketing department asking if we can get a real siren. If they are concerned about the "boy who cried wolf theory" then they should keep in mind that most people outside of a mile radius of the stadium can't hear it and if after that they are still concerned they they need to attach something to the effect of "There is a cyclone warning in effect." Or something like that.

From the student section I heard the "Thats gonna leave a mark comment" on Baum's huge hit, my section (first student section, I think it is section 28, I was sitting 3rd row from field) loved it.

And I think the band being down by the student section helped the students more in the whole cheers aspect because we knew what the band was playing where as in previous years we sometimes couldn't even hear the band. That's why I think you saw a lot more involvement with things like "Whatcha Gonna Do, ISU".
