I suspect that like this year, we'll have a group of kids that play hard and do their best most nights. It is refreshing to have kids that want to be at Iowa State again. For a person that loves Iowa STate, it always kind of boggled my mind when people wanted to leave (Lucca, Wes, etc). The past 3 years, we've had kids that want to be here and that is pretty cool.

I'll take an early crack at the Cyclones lineup by the time we reach conference play.

G - Monte Morris
G - Matt Thomas
F - Dustin Hogue
F - Melvin Ejim
C/F - Georges Niang

A lot of question marks outside of these guys too. Bubu Palo could certainly step up and start at point guard (I'm just hoping Morris is good enough to win the job). I also really don't know what to expect out of Amardi, Edozie, or even Dorsey-Walker.

The team next year could be as good as this one or even better, but it could also be worse. We just have no clue right now.

I would pull Hogue, move Amardi to the five, SDW is first of the bench, Gibson is next and Hogue plays 10 mins a game. I just think Amardi could be a better value defensively than Hogue.

If next years team is better than this years with all those freshman, we will win the next 5 national championships.

Our 2014-2015 lineup is what intrigues me most, because I talked to Hoiberg and this is what he told me:

1. Monte/Custer
2. Cosby/SDW
3. Thomas/Hogue
4. Vaughn/Travis
5. Niang/Jaksic

Talent - This year
Basketball IQ - Next year

A lot of our losses this year were based on basketball IQ. Stupid turnovers (Lucious) missed dunks (Clyburn) and three point fouls (McGee)

Not bad mouthing these players - but next year we can be GOOD, especially with Niang hungry and Mel returning.

I'm picturing you and Fitzy playing with little dolls that you've named Hoiberg, Ejim, Niang, etc. and asking them questions.

Here's you interviewing "Hoiberg":

It is unlikely a team full of freshman and JuCo's will have better basketball IQ.
Missed dunks are based on bad basketball IQ?

Just my opinion, this is what our starting lineup will look like by the end of next season (I say by the end because I don't think Monte will start off as our starting PG)

Monte Morris - Yahoo! Sports

Matt Thomas - Yahoo! Sports

Sherron Dorsey-Walker - Yahoo! Sports

Melvin Ejim - Yahoo! Sports

Georges Niang - Yahoo! Sports

Yes I realize that line-up has three freshman in it, but you have to start your most talented players. Count me in as one of the people that is really excited about Dorsey-Walker as well. I think he will fit the system well and he gives us another ball handler in the line-up

What about Naz Long or Okoro? I have not heard a lot of people talk about these two. Both have been in the program for a year, I would think that would mean something for next year. Does anyone know how these two developed over this year?

I think they will both give us good minutes off the bench next year; I don't know about either starting, but I think they can give us some good depth

So if you have non cheerleader comment you're a troll? Wtf? Bubu plays hard, plays pretty good d. Idk why anyone would think think we wont more than likely take a step back next year.

It's not doubting Fred, the players, the fans, etc. I think we'll win some games, be in NIT. We had incredible offensive team, obvi that will drop off. Hopefully can minimize impact by improving defensive play. I'm actually more worried about losing Ejim in 2014. My god can he rebound, and it helps Niang out a ton.

Starters: 1. Bubu 2. SDW 3. Hogue 4. Ejim 5. Niang
Bench: 6. Thomas 7. Gibson 8. Morris 9. Bluford
Amardi, Okoro, Long, Edozie

I think it will be something like I have above. Thomas/Morris could surely evolve into starters much like Niang did but I really think it will start out like that. Ejim/Niang are the only two worthy of 30+ minutes/game. The rest of my 9 man rotation will get between 10-20 minutes. I didn't rank four of the players because I have no idea what to expect from those four.
