this is what the entrance should be

Ok, so all of the talk about Sweet Caroline & Smoke on the Water made me think of something to add to this particular discussion. I was running the other day & this song came up on one of my jogging playlists (in fact it's on almost every jogging playlist I have). I really think this could be a cool entrance song.

There are some pretty cool video board possibilities too with the vocal shouts & cymbal hits at the end of the first verse. Time up some highlights of big hits with those shouts & crashes & this could be a pretty sweet entrance. Plus, the Black Angels are a band from Austin. It would be fun to steal something from the Longhorns backyard & make it our own.

They can't match the fight song either, even indoors. Should we change that, too?

Beer plus phasing plus "lack of rhythm" equals a clapping train wreck.

Not to mention that crowds always accelerate when they clap in unison (I consider "lack of rhythm" to be the no-one-around-me-claps-at-the-same-time and different from tempo).

In regards to the walk-out song, I think that Smoke on the Water works well, but that the AD should have done a better splicing job. The version at the game sounds more like something a junior high student would put into a class project rather than a clip to be used in D1 football (if you haven't noticed, listen for the cut from the guitar + drums + bass back to only-guitar...it's pretty awkward). I bet that the AD could have found a good cover band in the area to provide a nice cohesive intro piece without any editing required.

I have to give credit to Iowa for "Back in Black". It is a perfect fit for their entrance. It is immediately identifiable and fits perfect with their Black jerseys. I wish ISU had a song that fit that perfectly with our team.

You asked for it. :jimlad:

Edit: except for the fact that playing this would probably make the sound system at JT decide to completely stop working about 2 seconds in.

DOesn't matter what the song is, the band is louder than the sound system and much less distorted. Just let them play it. Better yet, we can pull my old 76 monte carlo up and open the trunk.

So what you're saying is that my suggestion would sound like this? (minus the bass):

I think we should go back to the song we had about 6 or 7 years ago. The one that had the sirens at the begining. We played sometime in the third quarter I believe during the Texas Tech game. That song got me pumped and ready for some football.

Does anyone know what the name of that song is?

Also, some of you guys are talking about a song that fits with the team... I have always thought that that song was perfect because of the tornado sirens at the begining. I know it's cheesy but it fits. Plus, we played that as our entrance in the "glory days" (99-02). Best years in the recent past at least with Sage and Seneca leading us to 9 win seasons. And... we can cheer "Let's Go State" to it as well.

What do you guys think?

The start of "Firestarter" by Prodigy...not a tornado siren but close enough. The bass after the siren is more than enough to get the fb team ready to go.

Always been partil to 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC. Good intro that builds. go the whole "thunder" part. heck they even "went to Texas, yeah Texas, and we had some fun." Would be great to use after we beat Texas this year.
