18-22 year old kids, who simply had a collective bad game. It hurts us as fans to watch our boys lose, but I'm sure it hurts them even more than we can imagine. This is a team that bleeds cardinal and gold like nothing we've seen since the Hoiberg playing days.

As much as we, as fans, like to hyper analyze each player and their performance... Let's all take a minute to enjoy how well these guys represent our beloved university.

Can't wait till next year!

Yeah, I've been guilty of beating up on the team after bad performances, but I took a step back from this one and just tried to look at it rationally.

Whatever feelings we have about this are magnified about 100 times for the players, especially the seniors who have no chance for redemption in another game.

If you ever want to beat up on these guys for mistakes, not caring, whatever, just watch the locker room interviews after an NCAA loss. If you still want to beat up on them then you're just an ******* plain and simple.

Like maybe we should start an appreciation thread to leave comments in?

I agree and if you read McKay's twitter he may be taking it harder than any of us right now. They still had a great year.

I agree with most of what you said and the intent behind it, but after reading Naz's quote about being "lackadaisical" in the ESPN game story I'm finding it a bit tougher to feel more sympathy than I normally would, especially with the Cyclones.

If what he said is true, and they just expected to cruise to the victory, then they deserved this loss.

Agreed. Still Cyclone proud--and so happy those guys out on the court today chose to wear the cardinal and gold.

The OP is right on. These are kids that are also human. MT was the only one to have even close to a decent game, maybe JM but Matt stood out. Even when we lost there seemed to a bright spot, a player we could say had a good game but today we can't say that. If you have never made a mistake in your life, fire away. If you are human like the rest of us, support them as you would want to be supported if you had one of the hardest days of your life. I am as numb as any other fan. I remember 01, I remember watching OU sink late 3's to beat us in the 80's. As tough as the losses are on us they are a hell of lot harder on the players and coaches.
Congratulations to our Big XII tournament Championship Men's basketball. You gave me a ton high times this year. On to 2015-16.

It makes me sad that after being on here all day that I had to come to the realization that people would consider 9-9 in conference, get trounced by KU 2 or 3 times, lose on Thursday of the conference tourney, be a 8 or 9 seed, win round 1 in the tourney and then get trounced by the 1 seed as a more successful season than what we had this year.

If you can't get up for an NCAA tourney game, you shouldn't even be playing the game.

If you are getting hung-up by one or two words of a quote a player makes after their season ends, in a situation in which nothing he says to the question will be accepted, you are reading way too much into things.

Saying you played lackadaisical and the players expecting to cruise to the victory are different.

True, and I might be reading too much into it, but do you feel that this team brought a consistent level of energy and effort to each and every single game this season? I don't, and I think it showed today.

It's just coach speak. I said in another thread that if asked the same question tomorrow you probably won't get the "I know what you want me to say and I'm going to say it so you gtfo my face right now" answer. These guys are veterans they know what they have to say.

No team does, but we bring it more often than almost any other team.

You can play hard and still not play well, and the "talent" difference is not large enough for us to not play well. At home, where our shots fall and we can use tempo and passing to pick them apart, we roll. That is not our true level.

18 to 22 year old playing less talented 28 to 22 year olds. If you expect to cruise, that thought should have been gone early in the game.
