The Walking Dead

I've been anticipating this premier for a few months now and thought it was decent, not awesome, but solid.

Since Mad Men is over and Boardwalk Empire is a bore, The Walking Dead will fill into the late Sunday night time slot just nicely. I'm sure as the story goes on the characters will become more engaging and the story more complex and interesting.

I do wonder though, how many seasons can a zombie series last. Not saying it won't last, but it is the first attempt at bringing a serial zombie series to TV. Cudos to A&E for doing so.

Lastly, if you like the zombie genre, the you must read World War Z. It's freaking riveting stuff and moves very quickly.

Seneca Wallace.

I have read the comics and I dont want to get to much into it but there are different types of zombies in the Walking Dead. Some just sit there and do nothing, some run, and some just walk around.

I read somewhere that the first season only covers the first 6 comics. There are currently 78 comics out there and I am very excited to see where the director takes the series.

I think if people keep watching and AMC keeps renewing it there is plenty of material to keep it going.

I love how channels like AMC,TNT, FX, and SyFy, are getting to the point that they have better shows than the main staples of ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox.

I don't know but here's my guess; The wife was already hooking up with the buddy. Remember the long conversation the deputies had in the squad car? I got the sense that things weren't well with Rick and the wife.

Like I said, I don't know but I found it weird too. It would make a lot more sense if a year had passed or something...

I agree with this. I think the deputy was already banging the wife.

Anybody know if they're showing the episodes on AMC.com or anywhere else? I really want to watch this series, but since my 6-year-old knows how to work the DVR, I don't want to walk in when he's cowering in fear watching this show. I don't have the $$ to pay for that therapy.

I know there's parental controls on the DVR system, but I believe it's an all-or-nothing deal. You either lock them all or lock none of them, and we record shows for him that he likes to watch.

I've always found it amusing that in shows/movies with zombies, the characters apparently don't know what a zombie is. It would have been awesome when the dude was explaining to the main character about the "walkers and the fever" if he just would have said that there were zombies everywhere.

Yup. Apparently, in a world where zombies are possible, people do not have zombie movies/zombie fiction.

That does make sense, especially when you think back to that conversation.

According to the AMCTV website you can download episodes at iTunes. They will be showing this first episode several more times this week. Nov 5, 6 & 7.

It wasn't a little girl, it was a zombie. The horse would have lived at least a longer life if he would have left it where it was, or in the least, maybe not have been torn to shreds. Instead he rode the horse into a city where it didn't have a chance to live. Kind of made me not like him. The girl was already dead.

I've not yet watched the episode, but...

How stupid is it to go into a city when there is a zombie uprising?

The thing is communication systems have failed. So everything goes by word of mouth. Last thing everyone heard was that it was safe to go to atlanta because that is where the military is. So until you get to Atlanta and see that isnt true anymore, people will keep going to the cities.

Yeah.. but when he was going into the city, you could see all the traffic backed up on the outbound lanes. At that point its probably a good sign things have gone to **** there as well.

If a year, or a few months or weeks had passed since the zombies appeared, then why were all the lawns mowed? Maybe yard work is important to the undead. :twitcy:

I caught this show, and I have to admit I'm pretty excited about it. Good premiere and the show has a ton of potential.

I guess I see your point. I think I would go a couple blocks into the city notice that no body is there and move on.

Finally watched it last night.

- How long was he in his coma? From the looks of things, it must have been a month? But if that's the case, how was he able to get up & go pretty quickly and why was he not dehydrated?

- His home town must be a small town near atlanta. After he met the father and son there and noted all of the dead walking around that small town, how did either of the adults still feel that it might be a good idea to continue to Atlanta?

I dunno, he looked to be struggling quite a bit. Could barely speak when calling out to a nurse. He also found that water and chugged the crap out of it. I know its not enough, but they slightly addressed it.

Yet to watch the show, but I started borrowing the comic from a friend. Will probably watch some this weekend..

The comic says Rick and his family lived in a small Kentucky town.
