The Walking Dead

Good show, I liked it. Here is my beef though.... Does AMC not come in HD in Direct TV? I am so used to good shows in HD. If that is the case, AMC, you gotta pony up some money and start shooting in HD.

A lot of their movie show classics are old and not HD. I do not remember the channel being in HD.

Most movies--even older ones--can be broadcast in HD because they come from film, which has a higher resolution than standard definition TV. AMC does have an HD channel. It's just not on DirecTV.

It wasn't a little girl, it was a zombie. The horse would have lived at least a longer life if he would have left it where it was, or in the least, maybe not have been torn to shreds. Instead he rode the horse into a city where it didn't have a chance to live. Kind of made me not like him. The girl was already dead.

Wait a minute...

--SPOILER ALERT, for those who haven't seen it--

The show starts with a little girl getting shot in the head, and continues with multiple people (both living and undead) getting shot and beaten to death in gruesome fashion--many of them in slow motion--and your only problem was with a horse being killed?

Maybe I misunderstood what your issue was. I thought you were saying you were upset because the creators of the show depicted the death of a horse. My response was that they depicted the deaths of lots of other things (both zombies and humans) in gruesome, gory, bloody ways--and your only problem seemed to be with the death of the horse.

But if your problem is with what the character did within the story, then I can guess I can sort of see where you're coming from. But consider that he didn't know the horse wouldn't have a chance to live. He was going into the city to find help, not knowing that it had been overrun with zombies.

Obviously you have no patience and would not give her the benefit of the doubt.

You are right. The key to a successful marriage is working out your differences. This situation too will pass.

Alright finally watched the first episode. Amazing. When I first heard they were going to create the show, I ran out and started reading the comics. The story arcs in the comics were great. Watching the first episode, they have followed the comic pretty well. I also liked the extra parts to the story the show adds. I am very excited to watch the rest of the series. I hope it stays true to the comics for the most part. Now I need to get my wife into zombie flicks.

I just don't like it when animals die in anything. Call it the animal lover in me. Maybe I don't associate with kids dying because I don't have kids? I don't know. Just don't like it when animals die (and yes, I know they don't actually die).

I've been anticipating this premier for a few months now and thought it was decent, not awesome, but solid.

Since Mad Men is over and Boardwalk Empire is a bore, The Walking Dead will fill into the late Sunday night time slot just nicely. I'm sure as the story goes on the characters will become more engaging and the story more complex and interesting.

I do wonder though, how many seasons can a zombie series last. Not saying it won't last, but it is the first attempt at bringing a serial zombie series to TV. Cudos to A&E for doing so.

Lastly, if you like the zombie genre, the you must read World War Z. It's freaking riveting stuff and moves very quickly.

Seneca Wallace.

I just watched this. Wow, this has some potential. About time this genre received a treatment that only a tv show can give as compared to a 2 hour movie.

I really liked this show. Effects were very good and the story was also.

I didn't realize until this morning that the woman in "tent city" in the woods is the wife of the main character. That will be interesting when they meet up and she's now with his old partner.

I finally saw it and found it to be pretty good. I am trying to figure out one thing.

How much time has passed since Rick (the deputy) was shot until now? I just find it odd that his wife is kind of hooking up with his ex partner so quickly. (Albeit reluctantly)
I guessed 2 weeks in the hospital. How many days from when he woke up until he made it into Atlanta?

The only thing I heard referenced about time was when they were taking showers the one guy said they had not had gas in a month.

We'll see if there's more to it as the show unfolds, but considering that living through the rise of the undead would probably be fairly traumatic, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

I don't know but here's my guess; The wife was already hooking up with the buddy. Remember the long conversation the deputies had in the squad car? I got the sense that things weren't well with Rick and the wife.

Like I said, I don't know but I found it weird too. It would make a lot more sense if a year had passed or something...
