I had an all expenses paid trip this holliday weekend to the Florida vs. FSU game.

Pretty good gig, one of my college friends works for Miller Brewing in Ocala FL. They were doing a promotion with Maxim Magazine and their "Hometown Hotties." (yes, the scenery was very good)

With all the great things that came along with that, my point of this posting is that no matter what a certain other in the state schools fans think, gametime experience in Kinnick isn't even comparable to what the Swamp offers. Not even close.

Every defensive down is louder than I have ever heard at Kinnick (and of course, JT) Third downs are downright deafening, as in your ears hurt.

The Gator "Chomp" is a lot more than an arms extended clap, so what we (and the Hawks, etc) do doesn't really compare. Theirs is more of a production, and coordinated so everybody is doing the same thing at the same time. Its very impressive, probably the most impressive "chant" I have seen.

We were with a mixed group, about 1/2 Florida fans and 1/2 Seminoles. The Miller girls I were with at the game were from FSU. All in all the fans I were around were pretty tolerant of the other schools fans, just the normal joking.

Oh yeah, Tebow is good. He would get my vote for the Heismann.

Thanks for the update, but why would we care how the swamp compares to Kinnick?

What did you think of Mr. Two Bits? "We are the Boys?" Did you stop by the swamp bar and grill across the street? The Purple Porpoise? Grog House?

Was Jen Sterger there?

Was she the winner last year? If so yes, she doesn't look the same in person. I think she was better in person than her picture. I can't remember her name, but that sounds right. To be honest, a couple of Maxim girls doing the promo (UF students) were at least just as talented.

Our tailgate was right behind the swamp. The promotion Friday night was at Gator City. Walked thru the Grog, and a couple other bars. Balls was crazy packed Friday night.

Not sure who "Mr. Two Bits" was. I was a bit under the influence and heavily "distracted" most of the weekend.

Balls is a good spot too, little small though... I had heard Mr. Two Bits 'retired' but wasn't sure... He is an older man in with a yellow shirt orange and blue tie, would go around the stadium leading the two bits, four bits cheer... makes me miss G'ville!

She's one of the FSU Cowgirls. Look her up. You'll be glad you did.

A few years ago I drove through UF on my way back from Daytona; their campus is very nice. I stopped by "The Swamp" but was unable to go inside.

I can't count the amount of times I've been told by Hawk fans that Kinnick is one of the toughest, loudest, bestest home field advantage in the land.

I am really suprised you weren't able to get in... It is normally open untill dark every day. There is always people running the stairs, sometimes even sneaking on for some touch football...:wideeyed:

I certainly hope you made it to the Purple Porpoise!

The Swamp certainly is a top venue but you really need to be in Tiger Stadium on a Louisiana Saturday Night if you want to experience the best gameday atmosphere in the country!

Unfortunately I have recenlty learned that the Porpoise closed it's doors a couple months ago... Very sad day as far as legendary college bars goes...
