The Sam’s app should be the future of shopping

Frequent items:
Gary’s quick steak sandwich meat
Frozen soft pretzels (not the super pretzels, the ones they use at the food court)
Potatoes - best place to buy large russets
Lettuce
Members Mark lunch meat
Rotisserie chickens
Butter
Pork loins, shoulders and BB ribs
Fresh chicken
Members mark baked potato soup
Household items - deodorant and contact solution have nice savings.

Why? They keep trying to get me to sign up for it, but I don't see the appeal yet.

I hate dealing with people. With the app, you can walk in, buy your ****, and walk out without waiting in line or talking to another human being. It’s wonderful.

Also, I forgot the food court is inexplicably cheap to feed a family.

And alcohol is a lot cheaper than the grocery store of liquor store.

So what makes you such a big fan of Gary’s meat? What do they do well?

They have the best checkout process of any retail store out there.
Lower prices
Better non food selections (other than clothes)
Less chaos
I don't get an ID check multiple times per stop
Produce/Meat are equal or superior to Costco
I never walked out of Costco thinking I saved any money. Just spent more for a larger amount.

We had Sams, then did Costco for a year and ended up back at Sams.

Cheap ice for tailgating . . . now that the Iowa Ice Company vending service is no longer on West Lincoln Way in Ames. :(

Costco is better than Sam's, but I have a Sam's membership so I don't have to deal with the chaos at Costco. Jordan Creek location is a zoo.
The number of people aimlessly wandering is wild. I get it, a lot of surrounding community bumpkins come into town to shop at our Costco, but it's almost like these folks have:
  1. Never driven on an interstate
  2. Have never seen roads with multiple lanes
  3. Never been to a large store before
All of those things work best when you keep moving. Driving/Walking under the speed of traffic just so you can gawk at the big nets at Top Golf or look at every individual end cap at Costco is not efficient for traffic.

You ever been to the Sam’s in Ankeny on a Saturday in the middle of the day? It is the definition of a zoo. Not a fan of waiting in line for gas either……at least the app is a godsend where you can move at your own pace, scan your stuff as you go, pay for it, and leave without waiting in line to checkout. Game changer…….

As someone mentioned, Sam's has the "pay as you go" app. Also, Costco doesn't have park and pickup (at least the new one in Ankeny didn't last year when we were members). Who in the hell doesn't have pickup?

Oofta, no pick up? Yikes.
