The key to the game: TURNOVERS

IMHO, the most important part of the game Thurs. will be turnovers. Both forcing them and protecting against them. If the defense can continue their ball-hawking ways and grab some opportunities for the offense, a win should come much easier. On the same note, the offense can not afford to fumble or intercept - esp. with our young D. I realize this might be stating the obvious, but I really feel turnovers are even more important than getting Stevie going or how our run defense goes.

I'm really gonna miss Nik Moser and how he would always go for the strip of the ball. He always had one arm around the ball carrier and the other you would see one huge swing trying to get that sucker loose. That made it appear like he was working hard.
If were tops in the country in TO's again and can run the ball, we should have a very good team.

TOs are definitely the key. Last year we were fantastic and is the reason we won games. Moser's strip in the Iowa game was great! In another game he ripped the ball out of a receiver's arms and took it back for about 30 yards. The K-State game we had like 3 INTs in a row. Of course there is the Colorado game where Curvery tipped, intercepted and rumbled to the house. Then there was Paris picking up the fumble and taking it back against CU. And finally the last big one I remember is Lamarcus Hicks intercepting it and taking it back against Iowa.

This is why everyone is concerned about the D. All the big playmakers from last year are gone (exluding Curvey, but Leaders had more big plays). I hope the new guys have the same tenacity and go after the ball, but I'm not overly optimistic.

I agree fully on this thread....what remains with me most from last year is the TO plagued contest with Baylor......

I remember the latter, pretty much because it was right in front of me in the student section. One second I thought he'd pushed the opposing reciever out of bounds, and then Moser's running for the endzone!! Too bad they ruled the ball dead after he'd "intercepted" it.
