I have been wondering why Iowa State University has never really made that big of a deal for inventing the computer. Shouldn't the school make more of an effort to get this information out there? It's creation has been rather important. I just don't understand why this really has never happened.

Didn't we give away the patent on it or something stupid? My brother wrote a paper about it last year so maybe I should ask him...

It took us a long time to actually get credit for it. They had a thing where they took an ABC replica around the US on a semi.

ISU should create some buzz on this subject. The school that freaking originated the computer would be big. Get some major news story on its creation.

Or come up with PR campaigns/advertisements that aim to get interested High School grads to come to ISU.... let's just try to get some sort of national appeal going-

The ABC was able to solve systems of linear equations, but that was it.

The ENIAC which is where the patent for first digital computer lies was reprogrammable

Ahh, sure? Why not? As long as the U makes some money out of it. The economy is struggling. It is time for some good press on ISU.

I'm not sure that Penn gets any money out of their patent.

I know ISU gets most of its royalty money from the lead free solder patent.

I'm not sure if they get any money off the fax machine patent either

The computer was mentioned in the ISU ads they show during sporting games before they started the enjoy your adventure at Iowa State campaign. one of the lines was like only one university can be called the birthplace of the modern computer. I don't know how much you can really do beyond that.

I went through the comp sci program and ISU, and they drilled it in your head every year that the first computer was created at ISU. Even though when you look at what the ABC did, it was not the first computer.

ISU has made more money off the fax machine than the first computer.
