Sad news...that was quite an era of Cyclone basketball she was a part of.

Hard to put into words. Great Cyclone, but an even better person. She was loved by everyone she spent time with. I'll not forget her smile or laugh. Things like these are what piss you off and make you question why awful things happen to such great people.

Grew up in Vinton and didn't know Monica personally, but did know her family. Her dad worked for the school district as a teacher for years and was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Had him as my teacher and really got to know him very well over the years. So sad to hear about, my thoughts are with her family in a time like this.

WOW! Was going to school when she played and while Frese, Taylor, and Welle usually got all the accolades she was a huge part of that team that sometimes got overlooked. Her being Bill's first recruit at ISU she really was the 1 that started the long string of success. Sad day for Cyclone Nation

Nearly 2 decades later and a lot of fans on here are talking fondly of her and what she's meant on and off the court. 40 is way too young, but I'm glad she left her mark. RIP.
