Bad idea.

I hate the showboating as much as anyone. More than most I'm sure.

But this is too far. It's a bit subjective. How many times have we been irrate that an official flagged us for unsportsmanlike (AA in the Baylor game comes to mind) and the call was complete BS.

Now they're talking about taking points off the board?

would be really stupid... and would cause a big time team to lose down the road.. simply because it would be objective... shoot look at pass interference calls, and late hits on qb now a days.. this will be equal if not worse, and only happen on huge plays.

This is correct. If after the score, it would be the same as it is now.

still don't like it. leave it the way it is, 15 yards or whatever for unsportsmanlike before or after you score. it seems officials already take enough points off the board at times with questionable calls. this could seriously insight a riot if a call like this was made that changed a huge game (BCS game for example or conference championship)

Why dont they just make it a double 15 yard penalty? 15 yard penalty on both the PAT and the kick off.

ps, it only takes aways points if they taunt before they score i believe, which is very very rare.

Sure, it's rare. But it WILL happen.

If for no other reason than there are some officials convinced fans pay $60 to come and see them. Again - the ref who flagged AA (and another one or two calls) against Baylor comes to mind.

They should treat it like a penalty in hockey and just removce one guy from the scoring team on the kickoff...that would be interesting

Do not give officials (human: prone to errors/mistakes) more power to control the outcome of a game.

Terrible idea.

Re: Football: NCAA considering stiffer penalty for taunting

They are enforcing from the spot, so if the taunting is after the TD, it won't cance the TD. If the taunting occurs on the 10 yard line as the guy trots into endzone, then the TD would be gone.
