Ok I am sure that some where questions like these have been answered I just don't have time to look for them.
What time is everyone going to get in line for the Student lots this weekend? My friends are bringing down a party bus (all fanatcs welcome) what time do you think they need to get in line to get a bus in the lot? Lastly, the grass are still business as usual and opening 6 hours before kickoff correct?

two years ago they said it would open 6 hours ahead of time but after hundreds of cars started blocking S 16th St (from the grass lots across from vet med where they made everyone wait) they let us in at about 3 AM. There were girls already drunk as we were setting up the RV.

In the past, meaning the past 3-4 Iowa vs ISU games in Ames, they have opened the lots around 3am. Cars started to line up in the lots as early as 5pm on Friday night. However, one thing that is different is this years game is at 5pm compared to 11am starts for all other ISU vs IA games.

Also, all non-donor lots open at 7am. Unless you park up top in Vet Med.

I thought the policy was donor lots opening up at 7am and non-donor lots opening up at 11am. Do you have different information from ISU?

We're considering pulling up around 9 or 10 Friday night, haven't decided yet. If we don't do that I imagine we'll be there by 6 or 7 am to start the party.

It may have changed, but it used to be 7 am or 6 hours before kick. Whichever is earliest. I know that was the case a few seasons ago.

I believe the OP is speaking about the non-donor/student lots. Eeesh. 8AM? I'm guessing us trying to roll in at 10:30 isn't going to cut it to be able to park there.

RV Donor lots open at 8AM Friday until midnight and then 7AM the next day. Donor car lots open at 7AM or 6 hours prior to kickoff whichever is earlier. Public lots open 6 hours before kickoff.

It will be interesting to see how they handle it this year with the 5pm kickoff. In the past they line everyone up in G4 and G5 the night before and start filling the lot around 3 or 4am so they don't have to fight the early morning traffic when they move everyone. People start lining up for that as early as Friday afternoon and by 9pm it is pretty impressive how many are in line. I can't imagine they will wait till the last minute to start filling up the student lot with all the additional traffic coming into town. I think if you roll in Saturday morning you will be getting into the student lot, you'll likely be in one of the other grass lots or Vet Med at that point.

Sad face, I'm not going any earlier than 8.

I guess my understanding is that all lots open 6hrs before kick off or 8am. Which ever is earlier. I may be wrong though. I will be heading up Friday night.

Per the email I received yesterday from ISU, what acoustimac states is the official stance. I agree these plans may change depending on traffic.

This site explains, "General public (non-Cyclone Club member) parking lots open 6 hours prior to kickoff. " Cyclone Tailgating and Football Parking : Parking

Notice on the map the haunted forest is not labeled. I believe that is because it's a private (non-university) lot. As a private lot, i believe they can make their own rules around when to start letting people in. Now they might not have someone there to take money if you get there before 11am, but I believe you might be able to get there whenever you want.

Two years ago we got there at 5am (exactly 6 hours before kickoff) and not only were there already cars there with people tailgating, but there were buses along the south tree-line that appeared to have been parked overnight. I can't say for sure if they were tailgating all night... someone may have dropped them off the night before to hold a good spot for the next day, but there were people there at 5am.
If you intend to get to the haunted forest lot well before 11am, I'd suggest trying to find a number to call to see how early is deemed "too early".

I was able to get into the lots just south of Hilton at 10 am last game which is 9 hours before the game. I can't imagine them not opening the public lots earlier.
