Get a deep cycle group 27 marine rv battery from Walmart and a 400 watt inverter. It will run a 32" LCD TV for several hours. The engineers on here could do the math but its at least 8 hours run time in my experience. The newer lcd tv s are very low watt usage so might even be good for longer. We did this at jack trice before we moved. Only downside was I didn't have a lock on my direct tv account and my buddy rented some porn while we went into the game. Needless to say we had quite a crowd at our tailgate when we returned at half time. Apparently the porn was more interesting than the game which was the Utah debacle.

Thinking you should replace that with "obviously"!

So the decision comes down to:
1. Get a quiet generator that costs a bit more
2. Get a cheaper generator that is loud and annoying to you and your neighbors
3. Use a deep cell battery knowing you'll be very limited on how long you can run things (a matter of 4-6 hours at best).

i actually use a combination of he three so I know how well they work. We are so tired of the deep cell limitations weare going to buy a Honda generator to run at night. Our onboard generator is louder and you can't talk around it. We have a big enough tailgate we pretty much stay away from it. Our 2nd loud generator goes in the ditch and gives us the extra juice we need. In the end, if you can save the bucks the Honda is the best choice and will make you happy you went that direction.

Don't cheap out. We've had one of these at our tailgate for the last 5 years and it runs like a champ and is quiet.

We run a ton of things off of it. Cell phone plug in, directv receiver, TV, laptop, multiple crock pots, margaritaville mixer, boom box, etc. Just don't forget to bring along a power strip.
