Yep awesome spot for himBaltimore - perfect landing spot for him.
Lazard is a solid WR3. He's a big body, is willing to do the dirty work, and isn't going to be an issue if he doesn't get the ball much. Nothing wrong with that. In hindsight he's definitely worth a mid to late round pick, which is where most fans thought he would go at the end of his career at ISU. ISU fans were dissapointed he didnt get drafted because he was a special player for us and we had gone a number of years without anyone drafted.
You mean the strategy dozens of other teams in the past 3+ years incorporated into their defensive schemes due to ISU's defensive success?I think it’s pretty obvious that NFL teams think Iowa State’s defensive scheme either does a good job of masking the deficiencies of secondary players, or is just plain hard to transition out of when coming into the NFL.
Holy hyperbole...Finally the nightmare is over. Good spot for him
Have players in those schemes been picked lower than projected? Do NFL teams use our scheme? It’s not wrong for that statement to question our scheme with reshared to how our players get drafted. You mean the strategy dozens of other teams in the past 3+ years incorporated into their defensive schemes due to ISU's defensive success?
Sure he is happy to be playing so close to his home!Baltimore - perfect landing spot for him.
I think that many in the league view it as a gimmick defense. Or at most something you use only situationally. But as far as CBs, ISU doesn’t really emphasize speed. Corners don’t have to turn and cover as much because of all the safeties behind them. We seem to care more about short area quickness and tackling ability. Our CB film doesn’t really translate well to NFL schemes. So, it probably shouldn’t be a surprise that Tampa dropped just due to uncertainty.I think it’s pretty obvious that NFL teams think Iowa State’s defensive scheme either does a good job of masking the deficiencies of secondary players, or is just plain hard to transition out of when coming into the NFL.
Players definitely get chosen based on playing for certain teams or conferences: GA, Bama, Michigan, Oregon, SECHave players in those schemes been picked lower than projected? I tend to think others were just better. Heck, they picked a guy from Toledo much earlier than Tampa. No conspiracies, just GM’s thinking others were better. Now time to prove them wrong.
That comment was tongue and cheekHoly hyperbole...
Plenty of 3rd thru 7th round picks end up better than those from from the 1st two days.
