Losing to Drake sucks of course, but expectations are fairly low at this point. Our best two players from last year left early to play professionally. McD had to plug holes in the program with very little time left, and in my opinion did well given the short amount of time he had to do so.
I think what people do expect, and very reasonably so, is to see consistent improvement in the program over the next few years.

You better...how can you accept being below average so readily? iowa state just fired dan mccarney, if this new coach can't sell my mother a new cadillac and win the big 12 north, he's worthless...i watched larry e win back to back big 12 titles and now we are happy with coming within 2 points of beating drake....rediculous, why are you so accepting of being below average? not sure if you are a donor, but i am...not sure if these guys are paying to go to school, but i did... playing like this, they need to get jobs at taco time...not go to college on my dime

You can't have sweet without the sour. Remember games like this when we're winning tournament games in the future.

if your so criticizing this game were you going nuts over our number 2 rank and loosing to hampton. i mean, teams that are young are going to have their woes. I am not happy with loosing, but it is just a part of a team being young

If you recall, the ISU team that went to the elite 8, with Fizer and Tinsley, lost to Drake early in the season as well.

Thats right, "fricking Drake"

everyone is understanding this other than this jordan, Look at Kansas this year, they have lost some games to some pretty ****** teams and they will still make the tourney and do fairly good, no elite 8 or final 4 but i bet kansas makes it to the sweet 16

I think right now, Drake is alot better than some people think. I know that a few of my UNI and Iowa fans are kind of scared to play Drake after our game with them today.

Lowest days? We lost to EA Sports last year and let Maric drop 37 on us in Hilton plus NU beating us; lot of low points last year. No one criticizing ISU programs? Were you around this fall for the football season?

Something else nobody is really considering, McDermott probably hasnt been able to bring his entire playbook out yet. When he has to start from scratch to the whole team his offense, he has to be very limited. It is a whole lot easier to teach an offense when returning players can help teach the new guys. I am not trying to make excuses, because that really shouldn't make a huge difference, but give the program some time to adjust to the changes and McDermott some time to implement his whole system. . . .

drake is drake, drake is no one on a national scale...we brought in the coach of UNI that can't even beat UNI...we are in a lot of trouble, and I am the only one that realizes it....quit drinking the kool aid

I guess we kinda said this about Toledo, too... "they're better than you give them credit for."

Still, I know that losses mean a lot less than they do in college football. We won't win the "state championship" this year, but the experience is invaluable. We lost because of mental errors, and not because of the lack of talent.

Where were you two games ago? We lost at UNI because they knew our offense, and we had a bad game versus Drake. We're NOT 0-8.

yes it is drake, they run a very good offense, it was a different kind of test, they are more experienced, we lost to drake the year we went to the elite 8, yeah it was in Des Moines, but we still lost to Drake, have hope, it is a young team with a lot of promise, we are going to lose games, face it, we only have 4 guys who played last year, 1 of which is Marsden who sort of sucks!

how sad is it that we accept that a bunch of college kids "know our defense" or "know our offense"...but the person that taught it to them CAN'T BEAT THEM????

I really would like to think that we should never lose to UNI or Drake or any other non-BCS conference team, even when we're down. But that's not reality. It happens. No excuses...we weren't the better team today. GMac lost most of the returning players when Morgan got axed and had to pull in a bunch of newbies to avoid putting a team of walk-ons out there this year. Now, if we lose to Drake at Hilton in two years...I will be a little more upset. A lot more upset.

KU lost to Oral Roberts at home. That's a little more shocking.

As far as ISU's lowest point...I remember losing to Indiana on TV 113-66 or something like that. Losing to IU in Bloomington wasn't the problem...but we looked so pathetic in losing and the margin was so huge. That was LOW. The entire season was a flusher :no6xn:
