I am racking my brain trying to get rid of this thing with no luck. I have used Malwarebytes in normal and safe mode with no luck. Tried spybot and adaware which didn't work either. ANyone have advice on how to kick this stupid virus? It also seems to be slowing and freezing my internet frequently as well.

I got that virus back in April. Tried everything to get rid of it and probably did in the end but it jacked up my computer bad enough I finally just reformated my computer. Seriously wasted 3 weeks trying to fix it with help from a couple friends who are IT guys as their day job and still had to start over. Hope you have better luck

Do you have any other user profiles on the machine?

Sometimes it helps to log in as a different profile that has not been infected and start your cleaning from there. Just a thought.

I will probably just have IT deal with it. It's my work computer :twitcy:
I have to scour the web for pictures all the time so no doubt how I got it. Problem is, IT is in Chicago and I am in Omaha on site. Yay...

Various places. There doesn't seem a set place. I used to hear random sounds also from commercials but I might have removed that with a virus scan.

IMHO, the best free PC virus/malware fixing tool available is combofix - ComboFix | freeware - its updated daily, and the download executable expires after 10 days. Keepin' it fresh. We use it extensively at our company (10,000+ employees).

I know combofix fixes this problem, 'cause i've used it a couple of times to handle. It takes some time to run, including a couple of re-boots, and you'll need local admin UAC.

I read about combofix, i guess I was always worried I would screw up more then I would fix with it so I never pulled the trigger on using it.

I've had pretty good success using a combo of hitman pro and combofix. I usually try to run an rkill first so at least the virus will let me attempt to do what I want to do.

That is one thing, I can seem to run whatever program I want (Right now anyway) They just don't find anything. I will say, i ran hitman pro and it picked a few up but you had to buy it to have them removed :-/
