First of all, I want to say I love Amazon Prime. I already have an account, and get free 2-day shipping, which rocks. You can also get $3.99 one-day shipping.

Now, I see that students with a current .edu email address can get this for a year...free! It's normally $79/year. Graduate students qualify, too.

Here's the link:

Supposedly, if you already had a Prime account, you will be refunded a pro-rated amount, too.

We got it last Christmas and actually pay for it, well worth it IMO! Anything I need that I can buy and get in two days with out leaving my house is purchased online! Great deal!

Does it work with Staff with a .edu address?

Technically its only supposed to be for students, but im guessing it will *work* for anyone with a .edu address. Theres always the small risk they come and ask you to prove you're a student, but the likelihood is pretty low if other things like this are any indication (microsoft's big discounts on office\windows, for example)

Could be, but apparently there's a database that they can check this against.

Unless amazon has worked out a deal with every single institution with a .edu domain for their student email lists, i doubt they'd be able to automatically check. They could manually go on to the ISU directory and find it, but are they really going to manually check thousands upon thousands of addresses?

(fwiw, im already on a shared family prime acct)

You're probably right, but I don't want to bear any responsibility for any fraud that may happen!
