Personally, I believe anyone who shows up Thursday night, regardless of age and standing/cheering/whatever fans do that is supposed to affect the team's performance, deserves a medal.

As an old person bringing teenagers to the game and sitting in the high corners of the south end zone, I question exactly what our standing and yelling was accomplishing on third down on defense. We had little kids behind us and tried to keep them in mind when they were trying to pay attention to the game.

Our scientific poll of results when we stood on third down and we didn't -- pretty much a wash, they converted a few more times when we were standing than when we were sitting. Of course they were frequently in third and very short, where any decent football team should be.

Our student stood the whole game and yelled.

Loss must be completely on us. It's always based on fan performance, stadium music, and uniforms. That will definitely help the team execute a short pass to a wide open guy in the end zone. Has anyone blamed the alumni band yet? They are old after all. Or perhaps the dance routine lacked oomph?

We've blamed everything else, let's throw them in there, too.

I missed any "student section" shots on the TV stream today, but I imagine it was at least better than what Mizzou had (and yes, this is looking at the side of their stadium that holds their student section):

Edit to add: Mizzou has gone 18-16 the last 2.5 seasons compared to ISU, who has gone 6-26 in the same span. The only students who can take criticism for today were wearing pads and uniforms and stood at field level.

Great Picture of the stadium.....I really miss playing Nebbie and Mizzou and making the trips to Lincoln & Columbia.

Only once did we go to Columbia and the stadium was that empty.... it was a november game in Warren Powers last year.......HellsBells .....6000 Iowa Staters did a better job of cheering than the Missouri faithful did that day.....btw ISU won the game going away....

Ain't that the truth.

A person can only give a rip for so long before they just give up and say "meh"... At one point KSU was 8-10 on third down conversions. 3rd and 3... convert, 3rd and 6... convert, 3rd and 10... no problem, 3rd and 14 (we got em here!)... nope... convert.

The team has to actually DO something on defense to build belief in the crowd they will do something again.

The AD and the FB team should be darn grateful for the support they get, especially given the product that has been on the field the last few years. ( at least this year there has been a glimmer of hope, even though the results have been the same)

Amen Bro...............I guarantee you that Mr Leath and Mr Pollard appreciate the attendance, because usually Pollard and this week Frank ?...brought up the fact that over 50,000 fans would show up.(On the Pre Game Radio Show)

I can tell you from my experience that in the old days of Criner and Walden ...the AD would have been extremely happy to see 40,000 paying customers in the stands...

I am Extremely Proud of this fanbase for supporting very poor and uncompetitive football the past 3 & 1/2 years

I miss the days where we could blame the students for not showing up for a 5-6 football team, or a good basketball team.

Now it's a guy who is either sitting at home or sitting in his section, watching a 1-7 team, complain about other people who showed up to also watch a 1-7 team.
