Is he back with the program in some capacity? Watching my DVR today, and I saw him on the sideline talking with CMC, and I think he had a play chart. Anyone know what his status is?

From what Bruns said on the radio, it sounded something like “consulting” or “advising”. I’m kind of assuming he’s retired and back in Ames.

Well, the line certainly has been looking up...carry on Mr. Loney.
I remember Steve Deace (when he was covering the Cyclones) comparing an interview he had with Loney, and then with his replacement - Marty Fine. Both were asked about having to replace a Senior-heavy line the following year. I'm paraphrasing a bit here but this is the general idea - Loney: "As long as I'm here, we are going to have a good offensive line." M Fine: "If it were my son, I wouldn't want him playing QB behind those guys." Wish Loney would've stuck around for Seneca's senior season!
Loney left to Minny because he thought Mac would be fired soon and knew that ISU would not hire from within so he wanted to position himself for when that happened.
