True Clone fans stay loyal even through tough seasons and coaching bailouts. I am proud we had the fan backing to get CY to be the national Mascot of the year! Go CY>

You know, I was waiting for a table at Hickory Park last weekend, and had a guy start talking to me about Rhoads. Dude had already put the crown on him as our next savior.

Here's something that always baffles me: Why do so many people depend on the coach to be the symbol of the University?

I'm an Iowa State fan. I was a fan long before Chizik or Rhoads, and I'll be a fan long after. I don't give a crap about either one of them, they're just the hired help.

Just can't get into the "coach-worship" thing.... Has nothing to do with loyalty.

Having status as a "true fan" and $1.00 may get you a coffee at Kum & Go. Calling yourself a "true fan" and someone else something less is as mindless and as untrue as telling your buddy that your **** is bigger than his. After the last three or five seasons, be thankful there are still "fans" at all. Being a "true fan" all these years certainly didn't transfer into wins. The hawks have more "fake fans" than a lot of places, yet they seem to win - sometimes. If it makes you feel better about yourself by adding the tag of "true" to your fanhood, I'll send you out a certificate to show your friends.
