I saw this guy at the West Virginia game. Certainly looked taller than 6'7".
Lol, ok big guy, whatever you say. Funny you'e the only one still upset 3 days later. I must have hurt your delicate feelings.
Great to hear.I saw this guy at the West Virginia game. Certainly looked taller than 6'7".
I'm being pedantic, but students who go to Central Academy also go to classes at Valley. For instance, there's no need to go to Central to take Calc II. Shared course-load between what the student wants and needs. With a family support system in place this kid could get an outstanding education at North or Hoover. Anyone that doesn't understand that has no clue as to what DMPS has to offer. You are aware that the top Valley students take no academic classes at Valley right?
His guardian met him in Mali. He was enrolled in a Christian school in TN. He's now at a Christian school here. What has to hit you in the face to understand the guardian was on a missionary trip and his church sponsored him to come over and get a Christian education?
Anyone else watch GVC at state today. Thoughts on Samake? I was in and out watching the stream and from what I saw he is really raw but his potential is through the roof. He fouled out with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks but his length is crazy and he runs like a deer.
Got to watch him play tonight against my HS team, Kuemper Catholic. Just for reference, the two main guys who guarded him were 6'2 and 6'3, average athleticism. The obvious things were obvious, he's really long and super athletic in warmups, but he scored just 9 points and fouled out with maybe one or two blocks. The raw talent is there, but he definitely has a long way to go before being a Big 12 caliber player IMO. To be fair, though, they didn't seem to run many plays for or through him at all. As for his shooting, he didn't take a shot outside of 10 feet, and went 1-6 from the free throw line IIRC, all misses being short. Knights broke GVC's 45 game win streak with a 67-66 upset win.
I know what you’re saying but he’s averaging 11.4 ppg.I wish he could have got with Dowling or Valley. A couple coaches that are more big time. Averaging 8 points in a game in 1A normally would scare me. However, most 1A coaches are the next step up from being a dad coach. Sometimes not even that. Not sure about his high school coach. I have heard the guy recruits his butt off.
I question whether ISU has really offered this kid.
I do too. I can't imagine us offering a kid that averages 10-11 ppg and fouls out of Class 1A games in Iowa.
That is the level of competition you would face in intramurals in a lot of places.
I can't imagine that translating well to P5 competition.
I didn't put him in the same category as the top Valley students. I brought that up to point out to dismiss your throwing shade on North and Hoover. North is probably the ideal stop for an international student. Students that want to learn get a great education @ any DMPS. Did your HS offer Aviation or Marine Biology?
You must teach at, or attend DMPS. Lol.
If I'm a tool you're Donald Trump.
There are a lot of great coaches in the lower classes. Sure, there are some bad ones, but that's a rarity. Just like any other class. Some people just like smaller communities.I wish he could have got with Dowling or Valley. A couple coaches that are more big time. Averaging 8 points in a game in 1A normally would scare me. This. You are absolutely correct! Many coaches have an established winning tradition whether it be in 1A or a larger class and are comfortable where they are at. BIGGER isn't always better, folks.
