I don't think I have bought soda in a case or six pack since the early 90's

It's now reaching comical levels. This whole thread was either about soda being unhealthy, better deals elsewhere, or alternatives to soda. Just recently, I did a personal review of items I purchase. Every single one of them has been hit by inflation or availability. Every one! That's a tax on every person in this country. And I might add a very large jump in tax. Those well off can brush this off, but those struggling will feel a greater impact. Sadly, worse things are yet to come. BTW, I can brush these off, but I feel for those who can't.

I hear ya. I eat a lot of chicken in the winter and the prices have gone crazy. I was at Sams earlier in the week and I usually pick up a bulk bag of chicken breasts. It was 35% higher than a month ago.

I know the supply chain has issues, but I think a number of companies are taking advantage and jacking prices up.

Sorry, pop.

It seemed like soda pop always had a 3 or 4 for $12 deal on 12 packs. I've seen it once in the last five months. Spent a couple weeks in Arizona recently, same thing. I previously lived there and the same deals were to be had.

12 packs at the store are $6 or $7, putting the price over $0.50/can. It used to be quite easy to find it for $0.33/can or less. What's going on in soda pop land?
Ive been told by several media outlets that the economy is in good standing order and that inflation hasnt caused any issues.

TXcyclone. Care to comment on 'why' you think this is dumb? Especially, since it hits every one.

He probably thought it was dumb because of your underlying political tones in a thread about soda. He might have also thought it was dumb because even though inflation has caused prices to go up, wages have also gone up. If you aren't making more than you were before this round of inflation started it's because you are choosing not to. Everyone is hiring and starting wages are through the roof.

What is your source for your comments? I ask because I'm not seeing your statements confirmed in the most recent jobs report. Certainly not to the extent that inflation has gone up.

Is a soda thread really gonna end up in the cave?

Many months ago (maybe summer 2021) I decided to grab some Dr Pepper at the store - after not buying 12 packs for a while - and it was $7.99. I’m not that old and I remember being able to put $1 in a vending machine for a single 20 oz bottle.

Not necessarily. I quit drinking pop a long time ago due to what it was doing to my stomach, and now it's 95% water (out of my 5 gallon dispenser) and about 5% Gatorade Zero.

Water and coffee here.

I wasn't guzzling soda all day but I probably averaged 1 Mt. Dew/day for like 25 years which now sounds insane. I basically went cold turkey on it and was shocked I was able to do it.

Only soda I've had in 6 years was two rum and cokes because it was all that was available.

My energy is better and it makes a difference for maintaining weight.

And....Happy Joe's is still a thing?
