ESPN - Richardson, only one from school to qualify for state, wins track team title - High School Sports

How's this for an amazing story:
Richardson was the only Rochelle athlete to qualify for the state meet and stunningly won the team title. University Interscholastic League officials said it was the first time they can remember a single athlete winning a girls' team title.
Apparently it has happened before on the Boy's side, but never for the ladies.

Posted in general college, 'cause I couldn't think of a better spot.

Corwith-Wesley-Luverne finished second in 1993 in class 1A despite only having 1 member competing. Randy Thompson, who ran track at ISU, won the 100m, 200m, 400m, and finished 3rd (I think) in the long jump. I used to see his car around Ames all the time, it was a yellow mustang with the license "1ACHAMP".

That's correct, Adam and Carroll got 2nd that year. They also got a 5th place finish I believe in the shot put, but the rest of the points were Adam's. Pretty amazing stuff.
