Mostly it just confirms my opinion that Snyder and Patterson are the 2 best coaches in the Big 12.

Agreed. Actually, I don't see that much difference, with the exception of KSU, which this would be true of every year since Snyder has been there, and Oklahoma. Oklahoma had a bad year and recruiting classes of traditional powers tend to get overrated due to services assuming guys better because they went to traditional powers. All other grades are within a full grade difference. Frankly, pretty accurate.

Isn't that the point?

I'm pretty sure posting that link on this site is at best rubbing salt in the wound and more likely just plain trolling.

Unfortunately they have been pretty accurate for us. Most recruiting services have ranked our classes as 9th or 10th in the B12 for the past few years, and this year we finished last in the standings. Way too accurate.

I can see why you would write that, but it was not my intent. I was speaking to recruiting service rankings - which I loathe - not Cyclone football.

Than post it on a KSU board where it would not be trolling.

This is a Big12 board where the conference is discussed. Go to your football board, if you don't want to read about conference news. Or simply don't open my posts. I likely won't miss your considerable input.

Will trust your comment (I'm not going to take the time to research whether that's warranted or not).

What KSU has done so well is develop talent & use the mantra of 'recruiting services have ranked us poorly' as fuel to the fire to assist in improving. An 'Us vs the World' mentality and playing with a chip on their shoulders.

It appears our last 2 recruiting classes contain more players containing the traits of physical/hard-working/devoted to team football than those before, but that remains to be seen. What may be more telling if the staff will be able to direct & mold these players to do so. The JuCo players fit the physical/play-maker mold, and the size of the HS recruits and what they've done outside of football (Spears, 190-lb kid throwing a shot 58 feet & Jackson throwing it 62-63 feet, basketball for Butler & Croney, running track for Thomas & others) shows they are all-around athletes.

Mangino, Blaney, & Ayeni have track records developing players & this their first full-year here (Recruiting cycle-Spring game-Summer work-outs-Fall). Just hope they & everyone else can get something accomplished in 2015.

TCU - 13 of the 24 in the class are no longer with the team. So other teams actually lose players and the end of the world doesn't happen.

Bingo!! Recruiting services are much more accurate today than in years past because they have access to so much video.

Not sure how you reached that conclusion. Recruiting services are a bunch of youngsters making a buck for themselves. Many are somewhat talented media types. But they are not Mark Mangino with an eye for football talent. They draw conclusions based on who is recruiting whom, for the most part. And they peddle their goods like the street corner drug dealer to hooked fans. They seldom get it right beyond the obvious.

You are wrong. This is a Cyclone board for Cyclone fans, in which we discuss a wide variety of topics including the BigXII Conference. You and all others are welcome here, but you need to think of yourself as a guest in our house and act accordingly.

Snyder may not get A rated players, but he sure knows how to develop them to A-B rated players and disciplined serviceable players when its all set and done. That's why K-State is good and we are not. We just haven't done well with the area of player development in past few years.

So this chart shows that not only do we recruit poorly, but those recruits then underperformed once they got here. Encouraging to see us doing less with less.

Another reminder that Snyder is a fantastic coach, and no one here at ISU can wait for him to be done keeping that former train wreck on the tracks. Here's to many years of Ron Prince-type backsliding.

You'll be glad to know Bill Snyder tells recruits these days: "I'll die in this chair."

And the above chart tells me that recruiting services haven't a clue. After all, they are the ones who set the expectations, not CPR, WTFChuck or Paul Johnson.

There's just no way for an unskilled outsider to measure football aptitude in the high school age bracket. It is far more art than science. Some coaches master it, others struggle. Basketball is much easier.
