Should the Big 12 have the Cyclones and Sun Devils redo their game in case it was a big fluke?

No disrespect to the Sun Devils, I'm a firm believer that Arizona State crushing us is a huge fluke and robs the Cyclones of truly accomplishing what they’re capable of. I've spent the last few hours in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire regular season watching the Cyclones play great football it's just not fair. If the Cyclones lose again I will face that the Sun Devils deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Cyclones and the Big 12.

If you spent the season watching ISU play GREAT football then you were mistakenly watching a different team. This one rarely played more than two quarters of good football per game.

Blame the coaches. They haven't put together a single great game all year, other than against Arkansas State. Every game there have been too many errors but we somehow found ways to win. ASU took advantage of those errors today.

We didn't execute, turned it over and got rolled, plain and simple.

We get them @ JTS next year I believe, so a revenge game is on the horizon.

Our home game schedule seems pretty friendly next year. Keep our core intact and avoid injuries and we could be retur ing to dallas.

It’ll be tough to replace Higgins and Noel. We lose a few key pieces on defense as well, but I’m confident the defense will remain very good

It’s quite difficult to make it to the conference championship game. I just don’t think we have enough pieces offensively to make it happen right now

See, this is going to sound crazy, but I partially disagree. Losing them will certainly hurt, yes. Don't get me wrong.

But, and this is the unknown, if this program is where we think it is, and we are who we think we are - then I don't know its a huge drop off.

Hurt? Yes. But honestly, I'm far more concerned about safety. Offensively we return a QB, two RB's, in theory a pretty solid TE room and majority of the OL.

Defensively we lose 2/3 of our top DL at least, one of our best corner's and safety, arguably the linch pin of the 3-3-5... is down 2, maybe all three depending on what Cooper elects to do. And if Big Citrus decides to test NFL waters... that's another huge blow.

3/4 of the offense should, on paper, be back and in line to potentially step up and improve.

Defensively... our two best position groups from a defense that did struggle towards the end but most of the season was very good - are in line to potentially take big losses leaving only the LB room in tact, again, depending on what Cooper / Big Citrus decide

You want to re-live that **** again???
Because that's likely what would happen. Paper thin in the LB position...couldn't stop the run most of the year...they have that monster at RB and a QB who has played well all year...that match up was not good for us at all. While your sarcasm was commendable... It was no fluke

Arizona State is not 3+ TDs better than us. They were yesterday for whatever reason, but I don't buy that this same result would happen more than 2 times out of 10 in a vacuum. They played an A+ game, and we played mostly an F game after the first 20 minutes or so

I really wish there was some minimum threshold required for starting a new thread. Clearly, this thread would not have passed it.

Agreed - but replacing 2 1,000 yard receivers is tough

There is plenty of opportunity available for underclassmen to jump up at become the lead receivers. But they will need 1-2 good receivers to have a successful offense. They need the ability to stretch the field, and while the TE can potentially do this, it would only be in the middle of the field.

Look at it this way… a TE is often open because the WR stretched the defense vertically, leaving the middle of the field open for an easy 10-15 yard pitch and catch to a TE

They just need some competent WR who can stretch the field. They don’t necessarily need 1,000 yards receiving
