I had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Coach Crowe where I used to work back in 2002. We hired her to speak at a coaches clinic that we put on, and I had to correspond with her, give her rides, bring her materials, etc. I would have to say that she was one of the most unpleasant people I have ever had the misfortune of knowing. Never had a nice thing to say. Considered everyone around her to be her subordinate. Very little in the way of common decency. Generally a ****. I see it as a great example of personal restraint that people put up with her for as long as they did.

Maybe she could work for the Big Three CEOs.

The link above doesn't work right. I guess you have to go here: NCAA Financial Reports Database | IndyStar.com and select Iowa State to see it.

The amount of profit generated by football and MBB are slightly less than the amount each gets from "NCAA/Conference Distributions" (I assume this means TV / Bowl money). I don't know if this is by design or just a coincidence.

Not sure what "Direct Institutional Support" is.

I wish they broke out the other sports more. I assume the NCAA requires the reporting to be FB/MBB/WBB/Other, so there's really no way to tell beyond that.

Back on the original topic at hand, I don't see how this could possibly be held up on appeal. She was employed for plenty long enough to have a chance at success, she embarrassed ISU as an institution on multiple occasions, and she had a history of alienating her own players.
The jury's verdict awarded Crowe $90,000 in back pay, $160,000 for past emotional distress and $37,000 for future distress from her improper firing.
I mean, seriously?

EDIT: Googling "Ruth Crowe" came up with this article: http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/basics/2006-10-01-port-crowe-main_x.htm . I guess this lawsuit is just part of her retirement planning.

Please let an appeal overturn this...this lady sounds horrible. See other title for article.
