After use a Mach 3 for the last few years I thought I would try something different.

I just got a Merkur heavy classic safety razor
Merkur double edge SS platinum blades
Proraso shaving cream
Boar Hair brush

I hope I don't slice open my face.:frown:

I really liked the mach 3 but cant spend the money anymore. I have been buying Schick 3 blade throwaways lately. much cheaper and do a good job.

Does anyone have that razor sharpener I see on tv? I wonder if that thing works.

I bought a bunch of Mach 3's off ebay for about 1/2 price.

I still use Gillette Sensor Excel. Tried other ones including the Mach 3 and just don't like how it feels like it "tugs" on your skin more than the SE does.

I only shave when my wife starts ********. I use the nifty vibrating mach 3. The blades last much longer when you don't use them.

I bought a throw away pack of Schick Quattro razors and was really suprised how good they were. I usually use the Mach 3 but were out of the blades for it so I decided to get these. I may have to switch to these from now on.

Does the vibration really do much to help the shave? Seemed like a gimick to me.

Anybody know where you can get a barber shop style hot towel shave in Des Moines?

I don't mean this to be a smart *** answer, but any Barbershop should be able to give you that shave.

I Haven't lived in Des Moines for about 15 years now, but I can't imagine a barber shop is that hard to find. I used to go to Ron's Barber shop on the South side - Army Post Road, when I lived there.

The only place I could find a couple years ago was the barber college. Cheap and a pretty good job.

To 94 - youd be surprised. I dont know who my wife all checked with but at least a few places wouldnt do one.

I have asked 4 different places and none do them anymore. The Signature Male used to but the ONE person they had that would do them quit...

I thought the same thing until my friend came to visit and accidentally left the vibrating mach 3. Since I had the regular mach 3, the blades fit the vibrating one so I decided to try it. Otherwise I never would have even considered buying one.

Surprisingly it does make a difference. I have really coarse facial hair and it seems to get a closer shave than the non vibrating razor.
